Working on private villas in southern Portugal, we rarely receive requests for timber roof structures. In this region, it is not a standard solution. Most projects rely on reinforced concrete structures and flat roofs or traditional tile systems — solutions that consistently align with the local climate, engineering requirements, and contemporary architecture.
Today, roofing in high-end residential projects is no longer just about protection from rain. It is part of the overall engineering system of the house. Modern villas are designed to accommodate rooftop equipment — HVAC systems, heat pumps, and ventilation — while also creating usable terraces with ocean views, which are a key architectural asset in this region.
This is why timber roof structures are almost always a deliberate client decision — not a default recommendation.
This project is exactly such a case.
The client chose a timber roof, fully aware that it is a more complex and costly solution. For us, as a construction company, this shifts the focus entirely: the material itself becomes secondary, while precision in engineering, detailing, and ex*****on becomes critical.
Because roofing leaves no room for error.
A miscalculation, an imperfect junction, or a sequencing mistake during installation will inevitably translate into long-term эксплуатационные issues. Our responsibility is to ensure that these risks are eliminated before the house is delivered.
