Another experienced tank contractor is investing in Nordweld technology. โš™๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช

On September 25th, during the Open Days at Ivens Construction Company in Antwerp, more than 250 industry professionals had the opportunity to see the new technologies that will support the company in its upcoming tank projects.

Nordweld was represented on site by Niklas Nordin, Barbara Wรณjcik-Kostka and Lukasz Kowalczyk who had the opportunity to meet with the Ivens team and guests attending the event.

โš™๏ธ One of the key highlights of the open days for us was the presentation of Nordweld and IMCAR SpA solutions.
Ivens showcased part of its recently purchased equipment, including electromechanical lifting jacks, a Tank Rotator, ArcTIG automated welding technology, Bending Machine & Decoiler, and Internal Scaffolding.
And what was presented during the open days represents only part of the equipment purchased.

๐Ÿค For us, this is one of the strongest proofs of the value of our technology: Nordweld solutions are becoming part of the technological capabilities of another experienced tank contractor and will support its future tank-building projects.

The sheet can be welded and prepared while circumferential welding continues on the tank. โš™๏ธ

With the Nordweld Vertical Plate Bending Machine and Plate Track, flat material is placed on the track and the vertical seams are welded.

The resulting long sheet is then rolled and fed into the jacking system. ๐Ÿ”„

๐“๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ข๐ ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐จ:

โ–ช๏ธ roll the material on site,
โ–ช๏ธ weld and prepare the sheet while the tank circumference is being welded,
โ–ช๏ธ facilitate the mechanization of welding,
โ–ช๏ธ achieve a better shape of the tank wall.

A single Plate Track section is available in lengths from 2648 mm to 5502 mm.

In steel tank construction, vertical and circumferential joints require different working conditions.

That is why Nordweld uses two separate workstations within the tank er****on process:

โ–ช๏ธ ๐–๐ž๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐“๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ค - for vertical positioning, hydraulic clamping and welding of flat plates,
โ–ช๏ธ ๐€๐ฎ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐–๐ž๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‚๐ข๐ซ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐“๐š๐ง๐ค ๐–๐ž๐ฅ๐๐ฌ - for circumferential welding while the complete tank rotates past a stationary welding torch. ๐Ÿ”„

Both stations are integrated into 10 ft HC containers and support mechanized welding under protected working conditions.

The rolls in the Nordweld ๐•๐ž๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐๐ž๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐Œ๐š๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž are covered with urethane to prevent contamination of the rolled material. ๐Ÿ”

The machine is intended for rolling:
- straight plates,
- material supplied directly from coils.

It can be equipped with 3, 4 or 7 rolls and customized to accommodate different plate heights and thicknesses. โš™๏ธ

When processing material directly from coils, the machine is connected to a decoiler, which can be equipped with a hydraulic tilting function for easier loading of new coils. A telescopic arm supports feeding the coil into the bending machine.

Both the bending machine and the decoiler are operated via remote control.

Despite very limited access, the Nordweld system allow plates to be supplied and assembled from one location while the tank rotated during construction.
The result was a more organized er****on sequence and better use of the available space. โœ…

๐๐ฒ ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฌ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž.

With the Nordweld top-down method, construction starts with the upper shell course and top ring. The structure is lifted using electromechanical Lift Jacks, and the roof can be assembled before the tank reaches its final height.

Successive shell courses are then added underneath.

โฌ†๏ธ This keeps key er****on operations at ground level, reduces work at height and helps the tank retain its shape as it is lifted.

Behind every efficient tank-building process, there is a controlled and repeatable welding setup. โš™๏ธ

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช In Sweden, Andre from the Nordweld team shows how our welding station works together with the plate track during tank construction.

Flat sheets are fed through the station, positioned with hydraulic clamping and welded mechanically from both sides. ๐Ÿ”ฉ During operation, the tank rotates around its own axis while the welding station remains fixed in place.

The result: stable conditions, repeatable welds and consistent quality throughout the process.
