Building a wall in front of a wall sounds like money badly spent.
Then four o’clock arrives.
The sun hits that instead of your actual wall. The street can’t see in, and you don’t have to shut the window to stop them. Air still comes through.
None of this is new. The jaali did all three jobs for centuries, and did them more beautifully than concrete ever will. What the block inherits is the thinking: filter what’s outside instead of sealing it out.
The part people get backwards is the pattern. How open it is decides how much light, air and privacy you get — and no pattern gives you all three. Choose what the wall is for, then choose the face.
Seven patterns, all cast at the same size, so they mix on one wall. Five finishes.
