A private coastal retreat shaped through subtraction, where mass and void frame the infinite horizon.

Stone, glass, and timber come together as a carved volume, opening into protected outdoor rooms that breathe with the coastline.

Crowned by a singular butterfly roof, the architecture dissolves boundaries; inviting light, air, and the shifting seascape within.

Some spaces don’t need reinventing; they need remembering.

KBC sits within a 130 year old building layered with years of alteration, where original stone walls were concealed beneath plaster and historic flooring was covered over time. Our approach at Coalesce Design Studio was to work backward with care; uncovering, restoring, and preserving what already belonged to the space.

From the exposed stone walls to the original flooring, banisters, ceilings, and pillars, every retained element carries the memory of the building’s past. The new interventions were designed around these details, allowing the character of the space to lead the experience.

The result is a café where heritage isn’t recreated, it’s revealed. A quiet conversation between history and contemporary use, approached with honesty, restraint, and respect for the original architecture.

In memory of Hassan Firoz Lakdawala, whose vision and presence continue to shape the spirit of Coalesce Design Studio.

Rooted in the brand’s deep appreciation for coffee culture, the space becomes more than a setting—it becomes an experience of brewing, aroma, and ritual. The raw purity of materials amplifies this connection, allowing the craft of coffee to take center stage. Every texture, surface, and detail quietly reinforces the authenticity of the process, creating an environment where the essence of coffee is both seen and felt.
