Rare Rainbow Spider Found in Islamabad?
One of the World's Most Colorful Jumping Spiders!
While exploring our terrace garden in Bani Gala, Islamabad, my son Muhammad Soban noticed this breathtaking jumping spider. He immediately called me, and when I saw it, I was absolutely stunned. Its brilliant metallic red, blue, and golden colors made it look like a tiny living gemstone.
After doing some research, we found that it appears to be Chrysilla volupe, a rare jumping spider considered one of the world’s most colorful spider species.
What makes this discovery even more fascinating is that this species was once thought to be missing for more than a century before being rediscovered in South Asia, including Pakistan.
If this identification is correct, it is an exciting observation for nature lovers, photographers, and spider enthusiasts alike.
These tiny jumping spiders are only a few millimeters long and are harmless to humans. They are a wonderful reminder of the hidden biodiversity that can exist right in our own gardens.
Location: Bani Gala, Islamabad, Pakistan.
