Rooted in simplicity, Kalsada HQ reflects the coffee company’s singular origins. 🌱

When our friends at asked us to design their new 25 sqm headquarters, we knew we wanted to capture the environments where their coffees begin.

Kalsada produces some of the Philippines’ best specialty coffees, grown on family-owned farms that they helped build through the years. We translated these environments into a restrained palette of wood, concrete, glass, and steel—materials that echo the functional character of the farms.

From the outside, the office begins in privacy. Fluted glass and concrete blocks—framed in espresso-toned wood—reveal only glimpses of the interior.

Inside, the space unfolds in stages.

The entry opens onto a large merch wall and built-in bench, creating a warm welcome for guests. At the far end, a compact office suite gives the team a quiet place to focus. At the center, a large tiled bar anchors the space, serving as both a conference table and gathering place.

Like the coffee they produce, Kalsada’s office is intentional and grounded, yet sophisticated—a reflection of the people and stories behind the brand.

Within Catalonia lies a serene hideaway fit for a Mediterranean villa ☀️

At the top of Catalonia House is a primary suite designed to feel calm from the moment you step inside.

Two grand arched windows frame the room, looking out onto a private balcony and the garden below. We designed these openings to draw in the gentle northeastern light, allowing soft daylight to fill the space each morning.

The bed is anchored against a feature wall, finished in a buttery Venetian-style plaster and illuminated by a cove light above. We crafted this subtle detail to give the impression that the ceiling curves down toward the bed.

Beside the bed, an inner door leads to a generous walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. A custom vanity sits by the arched window, creating a quiet corner for the rituals of daily life—from getting ready in the morning to settling in for the night.

From the bedroom, a private balcony extends the inner space outdoors, and overlooks the surrounding greenery.

Here, each morning begins with fresh air, dappled light, and birdsong drifting through the trees.

In Catalonia House, each space was designed to feel intentional—even the spaces between. 🌱

The second floor opens onto a generous landing between the bedrooms. Rather than treat it as a hallway, we transformed it into another room the family could actually use.

This family room isn't limited to one purpose. It could become a cozy movie den, a bright home office, or even a small gym. We intentionally kept it open and versatile, allowing future homeowners to make the space their own.

The family room begins at the staircase.

Our signature curved walls turn the stairwell into a sculptural moment that feels less like a passageway and more like a place to linger. A custom rounded handrail—crafted from solid, honed tanguile—follows the geometry of the architecture, giving the upper floor a sense of arrival.

From here, one side leads to the primary suite, while the other opens to two bedrooms and their shared bathroom, framed by the curved walls. The family room connects both wings of the home, creating a shared retreat that's separate from the more public areas downstairs.

Beyond the balcony, the view opens to the gardens below and the canopy of the property's fruiting trees. Late in the summer, opening the doors brings in not only the breeze, but also the faint fragrance of ripening mangoes. 🥭

Clean, bright, and filled with storage—Catalonia’s kitchen is made for everyday ease. ✨

To create a clear distinction between social and utility zones, we positioned the kitchen away from the main living areas, allowing it to serve as a focused and functional space.

Accessed through an archway by the dining room, the kitchen is a cozy galley lined with built-in cabinetry on both sides. This layout accommodates a full suite of appliances while keeping everything within reach.

On one side, the cabinets integrate the refrigerator, water dispenser, microwave, and cooking area. Around these, we designed a mix of enclosed cubbies and organized drawers, balancing concealment with accessibility.

Opposite the cooking hob, the prep counter and sink sit under a horizontal window that looks out onto the garden. This opening draws in light and air, helping keep the space dry, well-lit, and comfortable throughout the day.

At the end of the room, a tall window and back door lead out to the service deck, where we added a utility kitchen, laundry area, and staff quarters—extending both light and function beyond the kitchen.

Clear, composed, and designed to make daily life feel simple.

In Catalonia House, our first residential development, a thoughtful plan shapes daily life. 🏡

As with all our projects, we began Catalonia House with meticulous planning, ensuring that every square meter works with clarity and purpose.

The entry opens into a generous living and dining area, softly defined by a stairwell tucked discreetly between the two zones.

Along one side, we carved a built-in console directly into the wall—both sculptural and functional—designed to serve as entertainment area, decorative display, and concealed storage in one simple gesture.

Opposite this, we positioned large panels of glazing that faces northeast, drawing in gentle morning light and inviting the brisk Cavite breeze to cool the space naturally.

At the end of the room, a comfortable dining nook anchors the heart of the home and extends seamlessly onto the garden and lanai.

From here, the view reaches out to a pair of mango and avocado trees that frame the outdoors and filter the light—casting shifting shadows that move quietly across the walls as the day grows long.

This year marks five years of AURIS—and a turning point for our studio. Welcome to Catalonia House. ✨

Catalonia House is our first residential development, designed and built by our co-founders, Ar. Russell Javier ( ) and Jody Castillo ( ). For us, it reflects how our work has evolved over time.

Located in South Forbes Villas in Silang, Cavite, just minutes from the Nuvali area, the house sits on an elevated 195 sqm corner lot.

Its position catches the cool winds of Laguna de Bay and allows for two street-facing façades. The result is a timelessly composed exterior—strong yet understated, with presence from every approach.

Our goal in designing this 290 sqm residence was to infuse effortless sophistication into everyday life.

The home has a generous four-bedroom layout, including a ground-floor bedroom. The living and dining spaces face the northeast garden, where gentle sunlight and natural ventilation move through the house throughout the day.

Upstairs, the plan holds a spacious family area and three bedrooms, including the primary suite. This private wing includes a walk-in closet, vanity area, and a balcony overlooking the front garden. Mature fruiting trees provide shade and privacy, creating leafy, treetop views from within.

Architecturally, Catalonia House draws from the village’s modern Mediterranean language, reinterpreted through a restrained palette.

Soft curves, clean lines, and arched openings nod to classical influences while remaining quietly contemporary. Rather than contrast, we applied textures along the same tonal scale—a blend of taupes and limestones expressed through textured plaster, stone tiles, and satin paint.

Quiet, warm, intentional. Catalonia House continues our design philosophy while marking five years of thoughtful practice—and the beginning of something new.
