Authorities have officially arrested the suspect involved in the abuse of a three-year-old child in Sitio Buyo, Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City.
The incident drew massive public attention after a disturbing video circulated online showing the child being physically hurt by the woman reportedly living with the child’s mother. The footage quickly sparked outrage across social media, with many people expressing anger and sympathy for the young victim.
According to the Taguig City Police Station, the suspect was tracked down after a concerned citizen who saw the viral video immediately reported the incident to authorities. Because of the tip, police were able to respond quickly and place the suspect under custody.
The suspect is now facing charges for violating Republic Act 7610, or the “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.”
Meanwhile, the child has been safely turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office to receive proper care, protection, and intervention. Many netizens are now hoping the child can begin healing from the traumatic experience and grow up in a safer and more loving environment.
