10 plants are on forced outage on August 2026, 1 plant since July, 3 plants since June, 7 plants since May, 1 plant since March, 3 plants since 2025, 2 plants since 2024, 2 plants since 2023, and 1 plant since 2021, while 13 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 904.5MW unavailable to the grid.
Factor/s that contributed to the RED and YELLOW Alert declarations:
1. Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, TVI 2, KSPC 1
2. Limited power import from Mindanao (due to Mindanao's high demand forecast)
A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission gridβs regulating requirement.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission gridβs contingency requirement.
