Gawang Pinoy! 🇵🇭 Got this seedling 4 years ago from Sir Jojo Francisco(breeder).

It’s a G. Peacock Crown hybrid, with spines quite similar to G. ‘Jade’. One of the things I really love about this cultivar is its beautiful marbling pattern.

Growth and Development of Gymnocalycium ‘Pink Dream’ 💗🤍

This cultivar can produce offsets while still small, but I usually remove them early so the mother plant can focus on growing.

Interestingly, some plants develop cracks at the base, almost like a C-section, with offsets emerging from the opening. (Check the photos! 😂) Removing them can be tricky because you’ll need a knife, and the wound is prone to fungal or bacterial infection. The safer approach is to uproot the plant, remove the offset, and let the wound dry and callous over before replanting.

Despite being prolific, its offsets grow slowly due to their limited chlorophyll. Once rooted, they gradually become rounder, but the crucial stage is waiting for enough chlorophyll to develop.

It can take around 2–3 years for an offset to reach this size. Check out the photos of the larger plants!
