Aniel + Santos Design Co. Aniel Santos Design Co. ASDC believes that great architecture starts with a deep understanding. Ready to transform your space? Let's connect and collaborate.

(ASDC) is a Philippine-based architecture studio delivering integrated architecture, engineering, interior design, project management, and environmental graphic design services for commercial and institutional developments. Listening is more than a tagline, it is the foundation of our design process. We work closely with clients and end users to understand their behaviors, aspirations, and everyda

y experiences before translating those insights into thoughtful architectural solutions. By designing around users, we create environments that are purposeful, enduring, and responsive to the way they are truly used. We believe meaningful architecture begins with meaningful insight. That's why every project that we close starts with our User Insight Framework - a structured process that dictates our design decisions.

I am an architect.

Not because I wanted to design beautiful buildings.

But because I’ve always dreamed of seeing a better Philippines.

Every time my wife and I travel, there’s always that fleeting thought:
“What if we just packed our bags and stayed here?”

Cleaner streets.
Better public spaces.
Cities designed around people.
Places that simply… work.

It’s tempting.

But I don’t believe God made me an architect so I could spend my life looking for a beautiful place to live.

I believe He made me an architect so I could help build one.

Architecture has never been just about walls, finishes, or floor plans for me. It’s about creating spaces that improve how people live, work, gather, and grow. Every project is an opportunity to leave a place better than we found it.

Close to five years into building Aniel Santos Design Co., I can honestly say things have never been better.

We’ve had the privilege of working on projects that challenge us, clients who trust us, and a team that believes in the same mission. We’ve learned that the most meaningful designs don’t start with sketches, they start by listening.

There’s still so much to improve in our cities.

So much potential.

So much work to do.

And while I know one architectural firm won’t change an entire country overnight, I believe every thoughtfully designed space is one small step toward the Philippines we all deserve.

That’s why I became an architect.

Not to escape.

But to stay and help build something worth staying for

“Sayang, kung napa-check lang namin sa architect.”

Some people think hiring an architect is only necessary when it’s time to prepare plans for a building permit or start construction.

But by then, some of the biggest decisions have already been made.

We’ve seen projects where clients have already finalized a layout that doesn’t maximize the allowable buildable area or underestimated the actual construction cost. These are all issues that are much easier and far less expensive to address before construction begins.

An architect doesn’t just design buildings.

The reality is, every change made on paper is significantly cheaper than making the same change after construction has started.

So if you’re planning to build, renovate, or develop a property, don’t wait until you need drawings.

Start with a conversation.

Your future self and your wallet will thank you.

Your office says more about your company than your mission statement does.

Your workplace is often the first thing employees and clients experience, before anyone even opens their mouth to speak. Whether it's a client walking in for a pitch meeting or a new hire on their first day, the space already tells a story about how your business runs.

- Does it make collaboration feel natural, not forced?
- Does it leave clients with a good impression, even before the meeting starts?
- Does it actually make day to day operations easier, not harder?

That's why office design isn't just about aesthetics. It's about creating a workplace that helps your business perform better, every single day, rain or shine, traffic or no traffic.

A well planned office supports teamwork, improves operational efficiency, makes maintenance easier (especially with our climate and power realities), and maximizes every square meter, which matters a lot when Metro Manila real estate isn't cheap.

These may seem like small decisions, but over time they shape productivity, employee experience, and even how clients perceive your organization.

At Aniel Santos Design Co., we believe architecture should do more than create beautiful spaces. It should solve everyday challenges, support the people who keep the business running, and continue delivering value long after the project is turned over.

Because the best workplaces aren't remembered for having the most expensive finishes. They're remembered for making work easier, smoother, and more enjoyable, the kind of office where people actually want to come in, not just because they have to.

Architecture that listens.

If you're planning an office renovation or a new workplace, don't start by asking, "What do we want it to look like?"

Start with, "How do we want our business to work?"

There are days when running an architectural studio feels incredibly rewarding.

And then there are days that test you.

Today, we found out that we lost a project bid. We’d be lying if we said it didn’t sting. We poured our time, ideas, and effort into it, so naturally, we felt a little disappointed.

Later today, we happened to pass by one of our completed projects in Makati.

For a moment, everything changed.

Seeing a space that once existed only as sketches and conversations now standing in real life reminded us why we started this journey in the first place.

Running an architectural studio isn’t easy. Beyond designing, there are proposals that don’t get accepted, difficult decisions, deadlines, finances, client management, and countless challenges that people rarely see.

But every once in a while, you get to look at something you created and realize that it has become part of someone’s everyday life.

And somehow…

That makes the difficult days feel worth it.

To every architect building a practice, creating meaningful spaces, and showing up despite the setbacks, we’re rooting for you.

What has been one of your biggest struggles as an architect or studio owner? We’d genuinely love to hear your story in the comments. 👇🏽

The best lessons in architecture don’t always happen in the office. Sometimes, they happen over coffee, shared meals, and conversations that go beyond drawings and deadlines.

Here’s to coffee nights, shared stories and to our ASDC babies who will one day shape spaces of their own. 🤍

With our new slogan, Architecture That Listens, we've created a series that highlights our design solutions, showcasing how we've listened to our clients and more importantly, the people who use the spaces we create.

In our first series, we're featuring the transformation of an open space into a community pet park. 🐾

The challenge was simple: create a dedicated space for pets without compromising the experience of the main park for everyone else.

Rather than starting with assumptions, we started by listening.

Working closely with the Homeowners Association, we engaged pet owners through a community survey to understand their routines, needs, and aspirations for the space. We also mapped the existing site, preserved every mature tree, and repurposed unused playground equipment into pet agility features, reducing waste while giving existing materials a new purpose.

The result is a thoughtfully designed pet park that:
🌳 Preserves the site's natural landscape
♻️ Reuses existing materials through adaptive design
🐶 Prioritizes the safety, comfort, and enrichment of pets
👨‍👩‍👧 Creates a welcoming space for the entire community

This first chapter demonstrates focus on space mapping, zoning and color analysis

Groundbreaking in Silang, Cavite. 🔨

Always a good feeling to finally see months of planning move into construction.

We’re especially grateful for this project not only because of what we’re building, but because of the people behind it. It’s been a pleasure working with clients who have become friends along the way.

On to the next phase. See you on site.

Last week, we had the opportunity to guests on the radio talk show called Pa-talk. During the interview, one of the most memorable questions we were asked was how ASDC came to life.

Our journey officially began in 2021 when we launched Aniel Santos Design Co. It was a business born out of our desire to create a better life while pursuing work that truly fulfilled us.

Before starting ASDC, we explored other business ventures including F&B and retail. While those experiences taught us valuable lessons, they ultimately led us back to what we loved most..design.

Since childhood, both founders, Arch. John and Alyssa, have been passionate about creating and designing. As life brought them together, they realized they shared not only the same passion but also the same purpose: to use their craft to make a meaningful impact on the community.

Today, ASDC is more than an architectural practice. It is a reflection of two people who chose to build a life around what they love, creating spaces that inspire, serve, and improve the lives of the people who experience them.

Why do you think Modern Tropical homes are everywhere in the Philippines?

Is it because they look beautiful?
Partly. But that's not the real reason.

Think about it..would you rather live in a house that traps heat all day or one that welcomes natural light and breeze?

The Philippines has a tropical climate yet many homes are still designed as if they're in colder countries. That's why some homeowners end up relying heavily on air conditioning just to stay comfortable.

Modern Tropical homes take a different approach.

✔️ Large windows invite natural light.
✔️ Open layouts encourage airflow.
✔️ Wide roof overhangs help reduce heat.
✔️ Gardens and greenery create a cooler environment.

The result? A home that feels brighter, more comfortable, and more connected to nature.

Maybe that's why this style continues to be one of the most requested designs among Filipino homeowners. It's not just about looking modern, it's about designing a home that actually works for the way we live.

If you were building your dream home today, would you choose a Modern Tropical design? Let us know in the comments!
