PROUD OF OUR OWN! | Ar. Vernan M. Lamis, UAP

The UAP-Iloilo Marikudo Chapter is proud of our very own Ar. Vernan M. Lamis, UAP—Past President and Past District Director—as resource speaker for the WAD 2026 Lecture Series on Housing: BP 220 & PD 957.

Sharing his expertise with 5th Year Architecture students of ISAT-U, Ar. Vernan continues to inspire and help shape the future architects of the profession. 📐👏

Proud to have you represent Marikudo, Ar. Vernan!

“𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴; 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘁.”
-𝗔𝗿. 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗠. 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀

A house may provide shelter, but housing goes beyond four walls. Through the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 with 𝗔𝗿. 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗠. 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀, we were reminded that housing involves planning, rules and regulations, accountability, rights, laws, accessibility, and the quality of life of the people who will live in it. These are highlighted through the discussion of Batas Pambansa Blg. 220 (BP 220) and Presidential Decree No. 957 (PD 957).

The lecture offered more than technical knowledge. It opened conversations about practice, collaboration, roles, experiences, personal life, reality and the lessons that 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁.

A meaningful celebration of World Architecture Day, reminding us that architecture is not simply about building spaces, but about creating places where life can flourish.

Lastly, a special thank you to 𝐔𝐀𝐏 – 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐮𝐝𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 for supporting this activity and helping make this event possible.
