Imagine our streets once again filled with banderitas, soaring above the buildings, colorful decor on facades, and people dressed in traditional Filipino clothing. A celebration of culture, heritage, and tourism that transforms ordinary streets into a vibrant Dinagyang experience. Viva! Señor Santo Niño! ❤️

What do you think about reducing road space in this area to prioritize pedestrians? By narrowing the roadway, more space is allocated to wider sidewalks, improving accessibility, preserving the heritage landmark, and protecting existing mature trees. The addition of shade trees creates a cooler, greener, and more inviting public space that enhances comfort, walkability, and the overall character of the community.

Imagine Arsenal Street transformed into a vibrant pedestrian promenade where Ilonggo culture comes alive through pasalubong shops, local cafés, and authentic cuisine. Connected to the heritage streetscape of Calle Real and the scenic Iloilo River, it becomes a gateway to experiencing the past, present, and future of Iloilo City in one unforgettable walk.

What if?
A Waterfront Complex for Iloilo City.
(View from Iloilo City Freedom Grandstand)

This development envisions a landmark waterfront complex centered around a 360-degree observation tower featuring a giant 3D LED screen, seamlessly connected to the Iloilo-Bacolod Ferry Terminal, a lifestyle mall, and a rooftop entertainment deck. Positioned as a gateway destination, the project would complement the nearby Amigo Riverwalk Township development by integrating tourism, transportation, retail, dining, and leisure experiences into a vibrant mixed-use hub along the Iloilo River.

On the opposite side, visitors exploring the historic Calle Real district would enjoy convenient pedestrian access to Muelle Loney and the waterfront promenade. After strolling through heritage streets, dining at local restaurants, and shopping in the city center, residents and tourists could seamlessly transition to the riverfront complex to enjoy its scenic views, attractions, and recreational amenities.

Beyond its commercial and tourism value, the tower's massive LED façade would serve as a dynamic cultural and entertainment platform, providing a spectacular digital backdrop for Dinagyang Festival Ati Tribe performances, concerts, and major civic events. At night, the complex could transform into a premier gathering destination through synchronized light shows, drone displays, fireworks exhibitions, and immersive multimedia presentations. Complemented by floating restaurants, waterfront dining experiences, and public gathering spaces, the development would celebrate Iloilo's culture while establishing an iconic regional landmark for Western Visayas.

Reimagine Manila: Quezon Boulevard, Quiapo, Manila

Imagine a more people-centered Quezon Boulevard with expanded sidewalks, protected bike lanes, pedestrian-friendly spaces, bollards for safety, and a continuous canopy of trees and greenery. Could this create a cooler, safer, and more vibrant streetscape beside Quiapo Church?

What do you think?

Updated post:
Iloilo City Seaside Boulevard. What if?

The Iloilo City Seaside Boulevard is a proposed addition to the city's transportation infrastructure aimed at improving traffic flow, connectivity, and urban accessibility. The project can integrate parks, recreational spaces, and tourist attractions, particularly around the Fort San Pedro area, enhancing both mobility and the city's cultural and tourism appeal.

The project can also incorporate city flood mitigation measures, including a functional stormwater retarding basin and water management system designed to capture, store, and regulate excess runoff during periods of heavy rainfall. This integrated approach would help reduce urban flooding, protect critical infrastructure, and keep city streets safe and accessible during adverse weather conditions.

The boulevard would provide better access to key destinations while helping decongest traffic within the city proper. In addition, a new bridge connection linked to the coastal road network could further reduce traffic volumes on existing routes, strengthen regional connectivity, and facilitate the efficient movement of people and goods. By enhancing access to commercial, residential, recreational, and tourism areas, the project could contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of Iloilo City and the greater Metro Iloilo region.

My Wishlist: A Botanical Garden in Iloilo 🌳🌺

I dream of a wide, open space featuring a mini forest, plant research facilities, a lake, picnic areas, and zones for sports and outdoor activities — also an ideal location for another Garden of Love. The Botanical Garden would be strategically situated near Gaisano ICC, helping boost economic activity in the area.

The site is also close to the Iloilo Sports Complex via the Dungon Esplanade, the Monorail Station, the Giant Mangrove Tourist Spot, and the famous Iloilo Esplanades — making it a hub that connects nature, leisure, and mobility.

This development can greatly enhance walkability in Iloilo City, linking green spaces with transport hubs. The monorail line will connect Diversion Road stations to Gaisano City La Paz Station and the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Station. I intentionally did not include a rail line from Diversion Road to General Luna Street, to allow PUVs to continue earning income while keeping the commuting experience centered within the city proper.
