Cafe Racer is going to have their 2nd cafe, 3 years after their first pop-up, and they fought for the growth that they have right now. Among the cafes that have emerged in the past 3 years, they have retained their relevance with both the coffee and matcha connoisseurs in the city, won every competition, and asserted their presence.

With their perseverance, grit, and ambition, their 2nd cafe will just be the start of something big.

What if your living room and garden are both in one place? This cafe in Bangkal is literally just that. The entire place is filled with real tropical plants, yes real, not plastic. The interior is filled with different plants from every nook and cranny, plus the plants are complemented with different stuff, such as ceramics, books, and different memorabilia.

The place has this rustic charm even with finished walls. It also feels like you'll get rid of your stress by staying here for an hour. Plus their drinks look whimsical and cute.

This hidden cafe in ADDU has good interior architecture. The cafe seems to be inspired from izakayas, wherein the space is centered toward a communal seating which is the bar. Paper lanterns are ubiquitous to izakayas and the designer was able to incorporate it with a paper lamp that is similar to Ingo Maurer's Floatation Paper Lamp designed in 1980, a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese lamps. The space is dimly lit, utilizing spotlights and a few cove lights, this makes the space intimate, personal, and romantic.

When you leave, you'll see a lamp that looks like a Falkland Suspension Lamp, designed by Bruno Munari in 1964, suspended above the staircase, which is quite dramatic and beautiful.

They use Vietnamese beans for their coffee and I like the nutty chocolatey notes which Vietnamese Coffee are known for. They also have good matcha.

Considered one of the best cafes in the city, Purge has built a reputation for itself in the field of specialty coffee, even when travelling to other cities outside Mindanao, coffee people will mention Purge whenever I say I'm from Davao. Also, their baristas have also been competing in different competitions, from local to international.

The cafe's interior is modern farmhouse style, quite cozy and calming.

Still one of the best matcha places in the city, a wide selection of matcha cultivars, a beautifully designed space, and cool staff.

I haven't tried their coffee yet, but hopefully on my next visit.

This Bo's Coffee branch has a really nice latticework on its ceiling and wall that makes the interior unique and interesting. The cafe has this mid to late 2010s cafe aesthetic -- monochromatic color palette with dark wood elements that also serves as conversation pieces. The thing with Bo's is it's one of the first local coffee chain that puts the Filipino identify front and center. In this location, it shows local iconographies of Davao, the Philippine Eagle wall installation, the mural that features the Mt. Apo, the century old City Hall, and the San Pedro Cathedral. I appreciate that Bo's is designing their cafes with mindfulness towards the city that they are serving.

A cozy cafe that allows you to work or study. The place is also not packed so it's also a nice place if you want to be alone or read a book.

I was around Matina and I was looking for a cafe that will close late in the evening or up to the wee hours, and I happened to find this cafe on Google Maps. (Cafes always have your business hours on Google Maps because it's actually helpful). When I arrived, the balcony had these glowing Vietnamese Lanterns called Den Long, which are quite nice, and signifies that the cafe is styled a la Vietnam. The interior has this grey lime washed aesthetic, typical of cafes in the city, but with some details that make it different, giving it a contemporary vernacular aesthetic.

I ordered Ca Phe Trung for the very first time, while i like the custardy froth, the coffee is very bitter, so bitter that the sweet egg cream can't neutralize it. It's my first time having this drink so I don't know if it has to be this bitter. But I have had quite a few Vietnamese style coffees but they aren't really bitter. They do have espresso, and I will reserve that for my next visit.

What's nice here though is that they allow students to study and people to work, they have free charging and they have nooks if you prefer to have a little privacy.

This cafe in Claveria has recently opened, and the place has a nice interior design. The crimson and white color palette is nice, the design is quite contemporary, and i like the use of textures and lighting. The ceiling is quite nice too with a fish scale waffle design.

The coffee is ok, I had white passion, it's on the sweet side, but it's ok. I think they are also planning to have pour over because they were having a pour over sesh during my visit.

Definitely a must visit.
