⭐ THE ICONIC PROJECT: Tambuli Seaside Resort & Spa

The Design: A modern tropical residential resort in Mactan, Cebu, designed to wrap around its natural environment. The structures follow the curvature of existing 30- to 40-year-old banyan and acacia trees, ensuring that not a single tree was cut during construction.

The Impact: Sets a new standard for sustainable, "tree-centric" luxury, transforming an 11-hectare property into a low-impact sanctuary that integrates modern concrete architecture with a lush, verdant landscape.

Placemaking: Reclaims the spirit of the traditional *tambuli* (native horn) by creating a spacious, 4-hectare amenity hub that fosters community gathering, unhurried relaxation, and a deep sense of belonging.

🛡️ LEADERSHIP & ADVOCACY

Position Held: Principals of ARkinamix (established in 1997) and 2026 ARC ICON Awardees.

Professional Upgrade: Known for "Architecture of Deconstruction" characterized by asymmetric geometries and controlled chaos, as well as an improvisational, hands-on design process that often prioritizes hand-drawing over digital tools.

Advocacy: Promoting a "Cebuano Modernism" that is globally competitive yet deeply rooted in local identity, advocating for designs that "breath new life" into traditional models through function and innovation.

Kate’s Bakery at The Marketplace Ayala Center Cebu

Small projects deserve the same care and intention as large ones. Guided by this belief, the design responds thoughtfully to the site’s constraints.

Located at the center of the food hub within the Marketplace grocery, the space required visual transparency to surrounding shops while accommodating a large existing column near the middle of the lease area.

The layout zones the selling and baking areas using layered partitions. A series of arches integrates the existing column, creating visual continuity while maintaining openness. Glass partitions with thin black frames unobtrusively enclose the baking area.

A 45-degree “cut corner” display replaces the typical 90-degree corner, encouraging a more fluid and natural flow for shoppers—connecting both sides of the display into one seamless retail experience.
