Tristan C. Telen

Tristan C. Telen (also known as Solomon Magnus and Wolf) is a Filipino public servant, business executive, reservist officer, and leadership advocate who has served as Assistant Regional Director for Administration (Director III) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga. He is also the founder and chief executive officer of Wolf Lands Realty Firm OPC, a real estate company based in Butuan City. Telen is known for his work in administrative leadership, employee welfare, organizational innovation, men’s engagement advocacy, and reserve force development.

He rose to prominence in regional public service through his reform-oriented leadership style, emphasizing systems discipline, staff welfare, inter-agency partnerships, and operational readiness. In business, he is associated with the expansion of Wolf Lands into real estate brokerage, development, memorial estate projects, and land-based ventures. In the military reserve service, he has played a visible role in promoting reservist recruitment and patriotic civic engagement, particularly in the Caraga Region.

Telen is also recognized for his emerging public philosophy and leadership identity under the name “The Wolf”, a personal doctrine centered on courage, duty, legacy, and transformative leadership.

Early life and education

Tristan C. Telen was born on November 9, 1989, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Hospital in Tungao, Butuan City, Philippines. He grew up in a loving but economically modest household. His parents were both college graduates—his mother in agriculture and his father in commerce major in accounting. Despite financial hardship, he was academically gifted and active in school leadership from an early age.

He consistently performed well in school and developed a reputation for public speaking and leadership. In kindergarten, he graduated as salutatorian, and throughout elementary and high school he remained an honor student while participating in speeches, student leadership roles, and school activities. In college, he became a Dean’s Lister in his first year before shifting more of his energy into extracurricular involvement, politics, student publication, and leadership.

He earned graduate degrees including a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling from Holy Child College of Butuan, a Master of Public Administration from Philippine Christian University, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from a foreign institution. He also undertook doctoral studies in National Security at Philippine Christian University, though he did not complete the degree.

Career in pharmaceutical sales

Before entering government service, Telen built a career in the pharmaceutical industry. After college, he worked briefly in accounting and later entered medical sales, first with smaller firms and eventually with larger pharmaceutical companies. His early years included both setbacks and professional growth, including periods of unemployment and failed job applications.

He later joined Benimedica Pharmaceuticals, where he began to prove himself in the field of medical sales, particularly in the area of central nervous system (CNS) products. He subsequently transferred to United Laboratories / MediChem Pharmaceuticals, where he worked in multiple territories including Iloilo, Dumaguete, Bohol, Negros, and later Caraga and Region X. During this period, he established a reputation as a strong performer, earning Top Outstanding Professional Sales (TOPS) distinctions and qualifying for incentive tours abroad.

His sales career helped shape his confidence, people skills, field discipline, and entrepreneurial drive.

⸻

Real estate career and business leadership

Telen passed the Real Estate Broker Licensure Examination in 2015 and began building his real estate practice while still employed in pharmaceutical sales. That same year, he founded what would later become Wolf Lands Realty Firm OPC, a real estate enterprise based in Butuan City.

After resigning from the pharmaceutical sector in 2019, he focused more heavily on entrepreneurship. He experienced major setbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic, including difficulties affecting side businesses such as lending, piggery, and other ventures. However, his real estate business recovered strongly in late 2021 as land demand increased. He then formally expanded and incorporated his company as Wolf Lands Realty Firm OPC.

Under his leadership, Wolf Lands developed into a multi-track real estate brand engaged in:
• brokerage and sales,
• subdivision marketing,
• raw land development,
• memorial estate projects,
• farm lots and land-based investments.

Among the company’s notable projects is Sawamoto Pines Memorial Estate, a pine- and Japanese-inspired memorial development associated with the firm’s broader legacy-driven brand identity.

Telen has described Wolf Lands not merely as a sales company, but as a legacy-oriented development enterprise built around the mission of shaping land into places of life, memory, and opportunity. The company’s doctrine is anchored in its Mission, Vision, and W.O.L.F. Values, with the Latin motto “Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat” (“Fortune favors the bold”).

⸻

Government service

Following the 2022 national elections, Telen entered senior government service and was appointed Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) of DSWD Field Office Caraga, holding the rank of Director III. In this role, he became one of the key administrators of the regional office and oversaw important functions under the Administrative Cluster, including human resource management, administrative systems, and financial management oversight.

As ARDA, he became known for pushing reforms focused on:
• employee welfare,
• process discipline,
• internal controls,
• digitalization and paperless systems,
• succession planning,
• partnership-building, and
• administrative accountability.

His philosophy in public service places strong emphasis on the idea that systems must outlast individuals, and that leadership should create structures capable of sustaining performance beyond any one office holder.

He has also advocated collaborative initiatives to improve staff welfare despite budget constraints, including non-budgetary partnerships with local governments, private firms, civic groups, and other agencies.

⸻

ERPATS MOVE and advocacy work

Telen is the President of ERPATS MOVE Caraga, a men’s organization connected to DSWD’s advocacy space. Under his leadership, the movement has emphasized fatherhood, positive masculinity, anti-violence advocacy, family responsibility, and community leadership.

He helped elevate ERPATS MOVE from a local advocacy program into a broader regional and inter-regional leadership and speaking platform. His efforts included:
• strategic planning for the movement,
• development of men-centered community engagement models,
• Toastmasters-style public speaking enhancement,
• cross-regional collaboration,
• and the convening of a MOVE Mindanao Summit involving multiple DSWD regions.

Telen has framed the movement around the principle that “building better men builds a better world.” He also established or promoted speaker-development initiatives to help ERPATS members communicate with clarity, dignity, and impact.

⸻

Military reserve service

Telen is an officer in the Philippine Navy Reserve. He has been associated with the Butuan 1st Company under the 721st Naval Squadron Reserve and has served in leadership roles within the reserve force. He was later promoted to Lieutenant Commander (O-4) in the Philippine Navy Reserve, effective February 24, 2026.

His reserve service has been closely linked to his public advocacy and leadership identity. Through DSWD Caraga and related networks, he helped support large-scale reserve force recruitment, including the successful mobilization and training pipeline of more than one hundred reservists, with hundreds more targeted for future training.

He has also promoted reservist civic activity such as tree planting, ceremonial duties, community presence, and disciplined patriotism, arguing that quiet service and visible civic discipline are important cultural foundations of national strength.

⸻

Leadership philosophy and public identity

Telen has cultivated a distinct public identity built around the symbolic persona of “The Wolf.” This persona combines themes of courage, discipline, duty, command presence, mythic symbolism, and legacy. His personal motto, “Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat,” is central to both his business and leadership branding.

He is writing or developing a long-form leadership work titled The Wolf Doctrine: A Transformative Bureaucrat’s Journey, intended as a legacy text on leadership, governance, masculine responsibility, awakening others, and systems-driven public service. The project blends autobiography, philosophy, doctrine, speeches, and leadership reflections.

His broader leadership philosophy emphasizes:
• courage over timidity,
• systems over personalities,
• discipline over noise,
• legacy over applause,
• and order over chaos.

He is also known for seeking brutally honest feedback on speeches and public communication, with the aim of becoming a more precise, commanding, and transformative speaker.

⸻

Political profile

Telen has shown interest in broader political leadership and has considered possible future elective paths, including local chief executive office. His style combines administrative discipline, public symbolism, strong rhetorical framing, and regional visibility. He has also been associated with political campaign work and strategic networking in the region.

Although his future electoral direction remains open, he has often been described as a figure balancing three intersecting roles:
1. public administrator,
2. entrepreneurial builder, and
3. movement-oriented leader.

⸻

Personal life

Telen is married to Cielo C. Telen, who also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Wolf Lands Realty Firm OPC. They have two children enrolled in private schooling. He has spoken publicly and personally about fatherhood, family responsibility, and the importance of building a legacy that outlives the self.

He is also associated with personal interests in nature, trees, heritage, symbolism, ancient weaponry, cultural artifacts, and philosophical and cosmic questions. At home, he has pursued a tree-rich environment and has described transforming his property into a mini-forest.

⸻

Public image

Telen is known in both government and business circles for a leadership style that combines:
• directness,
• charisma,
• administrative sharpness,
• symbolic branding,
• and a strong emphasis on impact.

Supporters often view him as a fearless and unconventional public servant, while his public doctrine emphasizes that leadership should not merely manage institutions—but awaken people, sharpen systems, and leave behind something enduring.
