The idea has been in my mind for quite some time now.

What if we introduce an architectural intervention for the Lanzones Festival? A modular pavilion that can initially be erected within a Lanzones plantation to accommodate the opening ceremonies, and later relocated to the UGMAD site to serve as the focal point of the celebration?

Conceived as a flexible and transportable structure, the pavilion explores the relationship between architecture, culture, and place-making. Its simple yet expressive form allows it to adapt to different settings while reinforcing the identity of the festival and the island itself.

Beyond its role as an event space, the pavilion has the potential to become a recognizable landmark; an iconic destination where locals and tourists can gather, interact, and create memories even outside the festival season.

The proposal also integrates sustainable strategies, such as a rainwater-harvesting system that may support the water requirements of festival activities, temporary stores, and exhibition spaces. In this way, the structure becomes more than a ceremonial venue; it transforms into an architectural statement that celebrates both cultural heritage and environmental responsibility.

P.S. Some scenes were rendered using AI, but the ideas behind them are entirely original. This is not an actual project, but a conceptual exploration of how architecture can enrich one of Camiguin’s most celebrated traditions.

The undergraduate thesis journey of our very own Ar. Elvis Jamero Jr.

Northern Mindanao once envisioned having its own planetarium—an aspiration that has now become a reality with the establishment of the DOST–PAGASA Planetarium in Molugan, El Salvador City.

This thesis aimed to make scientific knowledge more accessible and engaging, especially for the children of Northern Mindanao, who hold promising futures in the fields of Earth and Space Sciences.

The concept originated from the relationship between our planet and the Sun, together with the Moon, Earth’s natural satellite. The dynamic movements and orbits of the Earth and the Moon around the Sun became the foundation of a design that embraces humanity’s endless pursuit of knowledge and discovery.

The architectural intent was to communicate that science is not only essential but also exciting and enjoyable to learn. Through architecture, the project sought to tell a story, one that inspires curiosity and fosters a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the universe.

Its sweeping curves and distinctive forms serve as expressions of the cosmos itself, allowing science to reveal its beauty and complexity through the language of architecture.

These lightweight structures can withstand intense typhoon winds that bend metal, making them perfect for densely packed high-rises. It is an ancient craft kept alive by highly skilled masters who combine sustainable building with living cultural heritage.

Another week, another concept. Not a what if, but an actual one.

This time, it draws inspiration from one of the Philippines’ remarkable native trees: the Agoho.

Often mistaken for a pine tree, the Agoho thrives along coastlines, riverbanks, and other harsh environments. Endemic to the Philippines, it is known for its resilience, standing strong against storms, typhoons, and strong coastal winds.

Our client is an engineer, educator, artist, businessman, and passionate permaculture advocate who actively plants Philippine native trees. When we started brainstorming the concept for the camping cabins on his property, the inspiration came almost immediately.

The Agoho Tree.

Design Brief

The Philippines is no stranger to typhoons, so every building should strive to be as resilient as possible. Not typhoon-proof—because no structure truly is—but thoughtfully designed to better respond to nature.

The cabin’s planning takes cues from the branching structure of the Agoho. Intertwining forms create efficient circulation while defining functional living spaces. The result is a compact retreat that balances comfort, practicality, and connection to nature, complete with a small dipping pool for quiet moments of rest.

Sometimes, the best design inspiration has been growing around us all along.
