π΄πΏ RARE FINDS, HIDDEN TREASURES & MORE MOVING-SALE BARGAINS! πΏπ΄
Weβre open TODAY & TOMORROW, 10amβ4pm β and this week we have something a little different!
As we continue clearing out the nursery and glasshouses, we keep uncovering plants weβd almost forgotten were tucked away β including some unusual and harder-to-find treasures, several with only a handful left. πΏπ
And yesβ¦ despite selling loads of them, we STILL appear to have a small forest of Nikaus. π€£π΄π΄π΄
So come and have a fossick!
πΏ SOME OF THIS WEEKENDβS MORE UNUSUAL FINDSβ¦
π€ Haemanthus albiflos β Paintbrush Lily
A lovely unusual plant with distinctive white brush-like flowers. Around 12 left.
β€οΈ Haemanthus coccineus β Blood Lily
A striking and much harder-to-find Haemanthus β only TWO left.
πΊ Deep Burgundy Geranium
Absolutely gorgeous deep burgundy flowers and not an easy one to propagate β only TWO plants left.
β€οΈ Odontonema strictum β Red Firespike
A gorgeous hardy plant that grows into a lovely shrub with striking red flowers β only 11 left.
π΄ WALKING STICK PALMS β $20
These little palms have a surprisingly fascinating history!
During the 1800s and into the early 1900s, their wonderfully straight, slender stems were harvested to make walking sticks and umbrella handles, with walking-cane production increasing again around the time of World War I.
And hereβs a fabulous bit of history β the palm produces small red edible fruit, and in 1937, survivors of the Stinson mail-plane crash in Lamington National Park reportedly ate Walking Stick Palm berries while stranded in the rainforest for nine days.
They are VERY slow growing, love deep shade or dappled/filtered light, and make a beautiful understorey palm beneath established trees, Ponga or Nikaus.
Definitely one for the patient plant collector β and we have very limited numbers available at $20 each. π΄π
π΄ ONE LARGE FISHTAIL PALM LEFT
This one is a beauty! A fabulous statement palm in a large pot or planted in the garden, especially for creating that lush tropical look around a spa, swimming pool or outdoor area. π¦π΄
πΏ PONGA
Weβve uncovered some gorgeous Ponga too β beautiful established plants and limited numbers available.
πΏ Macrozamia communis
Another fabulous architectural plant for anyone who likes something a little different β bold, structural foliage and a great feature plant.
π΄π΄ WANT TO HIDE THE NEIGHBOURS? π€£
Have a fence youβd rather not look at? Need some privacy around the pool, deck or spa? Or perhaps you love your neighbours dearly but donβt necessarily need to LOOK at them all the time? π
Have a look at our Chamaedorea costaricana palms.
These are fantastic planted together to create a lush, tropical living screen, growing to around 3 metres.
Plant them in groups along a boundary, fence, pool area or anywhere youβd like some attractive natural screening.
And unlike a traditional hedge, thereβs no constant hedge trimming β generally just remove the occasional old or spent frond to keep them looking tidy. ππΌπ΄
They give you height, movement, greenery and privacy without creating a big boxy wall.
The photo shows exactly why we love them planted together! π

We still have our cute little fairy-garden bits and pieces too β fairies, mushrooms, coloured stones and other little treasures.

Keep going past them and continue down the shared road to find us.
And while youβre here, theyβre well worth a look too! If we donβt have the tropical plant youβre hunting for, pop in and see them afterwards. π΄π
