A few weeks ago we attended the NZ Certified Builders Conference.

It was a great few days away with plenty of learning, good conversations, and the chance to catch up with other builders from around the country.

We came away with a few ideas and practical things we're keen to implement in the business to help improve how we operate and continue delivering a great experience for our clients.

A big thanks to the NZCB team for putting on a great event. Looking forward to putting some of those learnings into action.

One thing we always tell clients is be careful when comparing quotes.

We recently missed out on a job because our price was higher than another builder’s. After chatting further with the client and comparing the quotes side by side, it turned out the cheaper quote had a number of things missing, while ours was fully inclusive.

At first glance, one quote can look “more expensive”, but if key things have been left out, those costs usually show up later as variations, extras, or unexpected surprises during the build.

We take the time to price jobs properly and provide accurate, transparent quotes so clients know what they are actually getting from the start.

When comparing quotes, make sure you’re comparing apples with apples and not apples with oranges
