🐀 Rats in Your Ceiling This Winter? It Could Be More Than Just a Noise...

Winter is when rats and mice start looking for somewhere warm and dry—and unfortunately, many homes become the perfect place to nest.

Today we were called to a home where a downlight had stopped working. After investigating, we found the problem wasn't the light at all...

Rats had chewed through the electrical wiring in the ceiling.

Rodents constantly gnaw to keep their teeth short, and electrical cables are a common target. This can lead to:
⚠️ Lights and power failures
⚠️ Tripping safety switches
⚠️ Damage to insulation and wiring
⚠️ Potential fire hazards if the damage goes unnoticed

The photo below shows just one example of the damage we found today.

If you've noticed:

🐀 Scratching or movement in your ceiling at night
💡 Lights flickering or not working properly
⚡ Safety switches tripping unexpectedly
👃 Unusual smells coming from the ceiling space

…it could be worth having both a pest controller and a licensed electrician inspect your home.

At Kinetic Electrical, we regularly repair wiring damaged by rodents and can make sure your electrical system is safe again.

If you think you might have unwanted visitors in your ceiling this winter, don't ignore the warning signs.
