The question we get asked the most — can a heat pump cool my home in summer too? 😎❄️

Yes. 100%.

And honestly, if you live in Northland you know how hot it gets up here. We’re about as close to tropical as you get in New Zealand and come summer, aircon isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. 🌞

Getting the wrong size heat pump is one of the most common mistakes. 👇

Too small and it’ll struggle to heat the room. Too big and you’re spending more than you need to.💰

As a rough guide:
▪️ Up to 20m² — 2.5kw
▪️ 20-30m² — 3.5kw
▪️ 30-45m² — 5.0kw
▪️ 45-60m² — 6.0kw
▪️ 60m²+ — 7.0kw and above

Keep in mind ceiling height, insulation and windows all play a part too — which is why we always do a proper site visit before recommending anything.

Before the sun goes down, close them in to trap the heat inside.

2. Draft proof your doors and windows 🚪
Even a small gap lets cold air in. A door snake goes a long way.

3. Heat the room you’re in 🏠
Don’t try to heat the whole house — close doors and focus on where you are.

4. Get your heat pump serviced 🔧
A dirty filter means it’s working harder and costing you more.

Matt will ask a few questions about your space and what you’re after, then organise a site visit and measure up. We’ll put forward the best recommendation to suit your home and make sure you’re getting the most out of it.

Step 3 — Fast quote

Most quotes come back within a day. Sometimes faster.

Once you’re happy with the quote we get you booked in. Depending on how busy we are that could be anywhere from the same day to within the week — we’ll work around what suits you.

Sometimes we get called out to fix things that weren’t part of the original plan. 🔧

On this job the copper pipe had been accidentally damaged during the build process — deep creases meant it had to be cut out and fully replaced before the heat pump could run properly.

It happens on busy builds. The important thing is getting it sorted correctly so the system runs the way it should.

Proper installation means the unit is level, has good airflow, drains correctly and lasts longer. Cut corners on the install and you’ll pay for it down the track.
