From tiny seedlings to healthy young plants…

There's a lot that happens before a plant ever reaches a garden. 🫘

This week we've been potting up zucchini, pumpkin, kumikumi, as they outgrow their original spaces.

Potting up gives developing roots more room to grow, while giving each plant the space, nutrients and care it needs to continue thriving into strong garden-ready plants. 🌿

It's one of those nursery jobs that can take hours… 😅
…but seeing that new growth makes it completely worth it. 💜

Good plants take time. 🌱

We've been a little quiet… but definitely still busy! 🌱😂

The past couple of weeks have been a game changer, sadly family tangi, family commitments, and then catching up on all the nursery jobs that simply can't wait. 😥❤️

Realizing you can only do so much on your own, daily sacrifices, gratitude and countless blessings remind me that the strength to keep going, the ability to grow, and the abundance we see are not simply from our own efforts. 🌱

Jehovah gives us “power beyond what is normal.” — 2 Corinthians 4:7

While away for a week, my amazing husband was holding down the fort, family and nursery duties.

We've been potting up, sowing, watering, spring cleaning, building growing space, preparing displays, watching tiny seedlings turn into healthy young plants and so much more.....

And honestly… sometimes the plants have to come before the posts! 😅🌿

I'm still learning how to find that balance and create a rhythm with social media while doing everything behind the scenes.

But we're getting there and Amoana Nursery is getting closer and closer to opening! 💜

Let's be honest.....

The truth is that staying on top of my social media presence with the work of building Amoana Nursery has been quite difficult! 😅

Still figuring out the social media aspect of things, especially with all the plants that need tending to in our greenhouse, the plants get priority! 😂🌿

We have been busy behind the scenes this week:

🌱 Planting and potting of seedlings
🌿 Building more flower & edible herb baskets
🌸 Flower companion plants
🍅 Planting next batch of veggies
🧺 Hardening off first hanging baskets
🐔 Getting ready for our laying hens
🏡 Preparing our driveway stall
🪧 Signs, pricing, and plant guide

It is a lot of work but loving every moment while ensuring quality family time, maintaining physically, mentally and spiritually strong is paramount.

What I am realizing now is that building Amoana Nursery not only involves growing plants but balancing many responsibilities and making every minute, hour, week or month count to reach your goals. 😊🙏

I will keep coming through and finding my groove. 💚

🌱 Growing With Confidence Tip 🌱

If you're buying seedlings this spring, you may hear the term "hardened off."

But what does it actually mean?

Young seedlings are often started in protected conditions. Before planting them outside, they need time to gradually adjust to stronger sunlight, wind and changing temperatures.

A well-hardened plant is better prepared for its new home. 💚

At Amoana Nursery, we're growing our seedlings with the goal of sending them to you healthy, strong and ready for your garden.

Nothing Goes to Waste ♻️

At Amoana Nursery, we believe some of the best things in the garden can't be bought—they're made with time, care, and what nature already provides.

This week we've been bagging our homemade compost, ready to nourish our spring gardens.

What started as everyday "waste" has become rich, living soil.

🍂 Autumn leaves
🥕 Fruit and vegetable scraps
🌱 Grass clippings
🌿 Garden prunings
🥚 Crushed eggshells
☕ Coffee grounds
🍌 Banana peels
🐔 Chicken manure (well aged)

Layer by layer, nature transforms these simple ingredients into nutrient-rich compost that feeds the soil, strengthens plant roots, and helps retain moisture—all without sending valuable resources to landfill.

🌱 Compost Tip
Think of your compost like a balanced recipe.

Aim for a mix of:
🤎 Browns (dry leaves, shredded cardboard, paper, straw) for carbon.
💚 Greens (fresh grass clippings, vegetable scraps, coffee grounds) for nitrogen.

Keep it as damp as a wrung-out sponge, turn it every couple of weeks to add oxygen, and let nature do the hard work.

Every compost bin is a small step towards healthier gardens and a healthier planet.
