Here’s my proposal for the sculpture at Te Papa:
An exploration of territory, memory, and material.
The form emerges from the Hākari, an ancestral Māori structure associated with celebration, abundance, and gathering.
Rather than reproducing a form from the past, the proposal seeks to recover its spirit: to elevate, to bring people together, to celebrate, and to create a place of encounter.
A structure between memory and future. Between earth and sky. Between what is ancestral and what is yet to come.
I hope you enjoy this exploration as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
