🐝 Bringing a little more colour to Wellington!

We love seeing creative projects that get people out exploring the city, and The Life Flight Trust art trail sponsored by Mills Albert Limited is doing exactly that.

This year, Wellington artist and Stephenson & Turner team member, Stacey Fraser-Allen (Stacey Fraser-Allen) has joined the trail with 1B Buzznee Street, a colourful bee inspired by her love of Wellington architecture and the buildings that make up our city.

You can now find 1B Buzznee Street at Midland Park for the next six weeks, as part of the trail supporting the incredible work of Life Flight NZ

It’s great to see local artists, businesses and the wider Wellington community coming together to make the city a little more colourful, while supporting such an important cause.

Great to see such a strong turnout at this week’s Learning Environments New Zealand (LENZ) site visit at Karori Normal School

A special thank you to Karori Normal School for hosting, T&R Interior Systems for sponsoring the event, and everyone who joined us to explore this exciting education project.

Project Lead Marie Bocquin shared the design journey behind the redevelopment, highlighting how the masterplan addressed the school’s weathertightness and rationalisation challenges while creating a framework that supports contemporary teaching and learning.

Inspired by the meaning of Karori, “the place from which the birds come”, the design weaves together landscape, architecture and cultural narratives to create a welcoming learning environment for tamariki, whānau and the wider community. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate educational architecture and connect with others passionate about creating meaningful learning environments.

🚁 Ever seen a lift motor arrive by helicopter?

That's exactly what happened during the lift modernisation of Simpl House in Wellington's C*D.

Working alongside Otis and CBRE, our team helped upgrade three passenger lifts within the 14-storey commercial building, introducing destination control technology to improve efficiency, reduce wait times, and enhance the experience for building occupants.

The constrained inner-city site meant the new lift motors couldn't be delivered through traditional methods, so they were helicoptered onto the roof before installation.

It's a great example of how existing buildings can be upgraded to meet modern performance expectations while extending the life of critical infrastructure.

🎉 A huge congratulations to Megan Jamieson on achieving registration!

This is a fantastic milestone and recognition of the dedication, growth, and commitment Megan has shown throughout her career.

Since joining S&T in 2022, Megan has been instrumental in delivering the Wairarapa College Sutherland Building Seismic Strengthening project and contributing to the Corrections Community Services Safety Improvement Programme across New Zealand.

We're incredibly proud of everything Megan has achieved and excited to see her continue to grow her career with us.

✨ Te Ara Tupua is complete!

Stephenson & Turner is proud to have delivered the lighting design for Te Ara Tupua, the landmark shared pathway connecting Wellington and the Hutt Valley.

This incredible project brings together walking and cycling infrastructure, cultural storytelling, ecological restoration and vibrant public spaces along the harbour edge. The lighting was carefully designed to enhance safety, celebrate key cultural elements and respect the surrounding coastal environment.

Since opening, more than 85,000 people have already used the pathway, embracing this new way to connect with the harbour and each other.

A huge thank you to the Te Ara Tupua Alliance, Taranaki Whānui, Ngāti Toa Rangatira and the many consultants, contractors and collaborators who helped bring this extraordinary project to life.
