NgÄ Huia is now complete, and we couldnât be prouder. A major milestone for Massey University - Te Kunenga ki PĆ«rehuroa and TÄwharau Ora - School of Veterinary Science.
NgÄ Huia is a new $70 million veterinary research and teaching facility and the final stage of a decadeâlong redevelopment that has transformed Masseyâs veterinary campus, reinforcing its role as Aotearoa New Zealandâs only veterinary school and a worldâclass research institution.
Purposeâdesigned to support advanced research, teaching, and collaboration, the facility brings together specialist laboratories and academic and postgraduate workplaces. NgÄ Huia strengthens Masseyâs ability to respond to disease outbreaks and global health challenges, while supporting a highly regarded and growing veterinary profession.
A strong cultural narrative, developed in partnership with RangitÄne o ManawatĆ«, is embedded throughout. The story of the huia - symbolising interdependence, knowledge, and leadership - is woven into a facility that is technically advanced, culturally grounded, and futureâfocused.
NgÄ Huia stands as a flagship for veterinary science in Aotearoa, designed to serve Massey, the profession, and the nation for generations to come.
