Our 2026 company function got a little competitive when we let the team loose on an Amazing Race around Wellington C*D.

There was karaoke in the Cuba Street Bucket Fountain, photos with some very obliging police officers and parking wardens, an Abbey Road recreation, and a couple of brave souls even took a mid-winter plunge off the Taranaki Wharf Jump Platform into Wellington Harbour.

A great way to get everyone outside, explore a bit of our capital and spend an afternoon with teammates from across our five offices. And yes, some took the competition more seriously than others…

Thanks to Jose and Welly Fun for putting together such a fun afternoon!

A pretty special part of our 2026 company function was having Blackcaps Devon Conway and Tom Blundell join us for a chat with the team.

Sitting down with our Managing Director, Scott Miller, they shared some great stories from their careers, the work that goes on behind the scenes, and the highs and lows that come with professional sport. Our team had plenty of questions too, with some great advice and plenty of laughs along the way.

A big thank you to Devon and Tom for spending the time with us, and to Cricket Wellington and Michael Sneddon for helping make it happen. Safe to say this one went down pretty well with the team!

Seismic restraint is an important part of how a building performs during an earthquake, securing the services and other non-structural elements within it.

Heretaunga House in Hastings will become the new home of Hastings District Council and Tumu Property once complete. Silvester Clark is providing seismic restraint design for the base build and fitout across Levels 1 and 2, covering mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, suspended ceilings, partition walls and the plant building.

With construction of the impressive LVL timber structure well under way, our team is working closely with the LT McGuinness Ltd modelling team to incorporate the restraints into the coordinated building model. It’s great to see the project taking shape.

We wrapped up our 2026 company function with dinner on the stage of the Wellington Opera House. Not your average Friday night!

It was a pretty amazing setting to finish a full day with our team, after getting everyone together from across our five offices for company sessions, a few surprises and an afternoon out around Wellington.

The evening brought everyone back together for some great food from The Food Lab, a few awards and a hilarious set from Rhys Mathewson. Rhys even managed to work structural engineering into his material. Not the easiest subject to make funny, but he nailed it.

With our team spread across the country, having everyone together doesn’t happen often. It was a great chance to catch up, look back on what the team has achieved and, most importantly, just enjoy a good day and night together.

After more than six years, thousands of seismic restraints and thousands of hours of work across our team, our part in the City Rail Link journey has come to an end.

City Rail Link officially opened on Sunday 13 September, with passengers now travelling through the new Te Waihorotiu, Karanga-a-Hape and Maungawhau stations.

For Silvester Clark, it marks the completion of a project that began in April 2020. Our team designed, modelled and documented the seismic restraints for non-structural elements across all three new stations, with our seismic restraint specialist Ignatius Black leading the team across our Auckland and Wellington offices throughout the project.

After six years working behind the scenes, it’s great to see the stations open and Aucklanders and visitors now using them.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing City Rail Link to life.

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge our most recent graduate engineers, Max, Ben and Sean!

Max and Ben completed their studies at University of Canterbury last year, and Sean finished at the University of Auckland - Waipapa Taumata Rau. All three attended their graduation ceremonies earlier this year, and scrubbed up pretty well in their caps and gowns too!

Congratulations to you all! A lot of hard work goes into reaching this point, it’s been awesome welcoming you into the Silvester Clark whanau over the past few months.

This July marks 47 years since Silvester Clark began providing structural engineering services across Aotearoa.

From our beginnings in the Manawatū, our team has grown to five offices across the North and South Islands. Along the way, we’ve had a front-row seat to the way our towns and cities have grown and changed.

There has been a great team behind Silvester Clark over the past 47 years. To everyone who has been part of that, thank you.

Over the years, our work has ranged from helping homeowners modify or build their dream homes to working alongside project teams on large new developments, and everything in between.

After 47 years, we still look forward to every new project and the people we get to work with along the way.

A great day at the 2026 ENSOC Careers Expo!

Jack and Theo from our Christchurch office enjoyed meeting University of Canterbury engineering students and chatting about structural engineering, the projects we work on and what a career with Silvester Clark can offer.

Thanks to the team for organising the expo and inviting us along.

Congratulations to Bronwyn Swanson on her promotion to Associate.

Since joining our Hawke's Bay office in 2020, Bronwyn has played an important role in our continued growth in the region. With more than 20 years' experience across the building and development sector, she has built strong relationships with clients, councils and the wider project team, while bringing a practical approach to project management that helps projects move forward, and stay on track.

Her experience managing projects involving council processes, fire engineering and stormwater design, together with her ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, continues to create value for our clients and our business. Bronwyn's promotion recognises the significant contribution she has made and continues to make for Silvester Clark and our Hawke's Bay team.

Congratulations, Bronwyn.
