TKV Construction Pioneers Laser Paint Removal in
Exterior Painting
TKV Construction is taking a new approach to exterior surface preparation, using laser technology to remove existing
paint from an exterior building surface before repainting. On 14 October 2026, the Wellington-based construction
company completed its first documented exterior laser paint-removal project.
TKV believes this makes it one of the first, New Zealand painting contractors to integrate laser paint removal directly into an exterior repainting workflow.
Laser cleaning works by directing controlled laser energy at the unwanted coating. On suitable surfaces and with appropriate settings, the coating can be removed with a highly controlled process that does not rely on abrasive blasting media or chemical paint st****er.
For TKV, the innovation is about more than a new machine. It is about improving the way exterior surfaces are prepared for painting, while giving Wellington property owners another option when conventional preparation methods are not ideal.
