Just taking a moment for these left over anemones sitting on my bench, they have the most delightful velvety noses that draw you in and make you want to reach out and touch them.

Unfortunately in my climate I have struggled to grow some of the more complex colour ones successfully outdoors but the Carmel and Galilee series do well for me when the temperatures hit right.

This week the weather swinging form ❄️ to 🔥hasn’t been great for their constitution, I noticed their foliage brightened which means they are stressed.

They shut down production as soon as the temps get too warm so I am not sure how much long they will be about this spring so I am taking a moment to imprint their beauty to my memory before they are gone again for another year!

Flower Locker has been stocked on Warren Street (Friday & Saturday) if you would like fresh blooms for your table or take to a friend to say hey!

Thanks for the amazing response to the sweet pea seed give away. I have created a channel found in my Instagram bio that you can join and share your growing experience. I can’t wait to see how you get on.

You don’t need a special occasion to order a bunch of flowers but this week was all about celebrating “birthdays” with bouquets.

If you head to my website under “flowers” you will find all the options about the different ways you can order my blooms.

Double daffodils…if you don’t grow them added them to the list. They deserve a place in your spring garden.

Daffodils are a perennial bulb that flower most springs if the right conditions are met.

As your plants come the end of your blooming cycle don’t be tempted to “tidy” them up, they need their foliage to recharge the bulb for the next flowering, so you need to let it yellow off and die back.

I personally tend to snip off the spent blooms when I see them so all the energy goes into the bulb instead of the seed pod.

Throw back to last October when I got the sweetest request from a Singapore, a surprise bouquet for his wife for their first anniversary and his mother in law who was travelling with them around NZ.

They were coming to Wanaka for just half a day and he wanted to present them both with some beautiful local flowers 🥰

It is always a privilege to create flowers to celebrate special moments.

Yesterday’s gardens discoveries….Lemon 🍋 is a thing, my garden has been sending me all the lemon vibes this season and the arrival of this gorgeous peony or double bloom tulips has me smitten with this colour.

I mean how cute are these daffodils I also found, I am going to have to go and look up who they even are with their sneaky lemon stripes…labelling is not a strength of mine.

And also found these darling little cream white ones had popped open.

Spring is like the best $1 mixture bag of lollies, I planted them so long ago I don’t remember they exist and are the best surprise when they pop open!!

Please share your best spring surprises…I am already on the hunt to discover new fun things to plant next year.

A moment for the humble daffodil. I absolutely love these guys and think they are a totally underrated bloom.

Most people associate daffodils with the classic large trumpet canary yellow bloom but there is so many alternative shapes, sizes and colours, in fact I basically grow no yellow daffodils at all!!

Daffodils are pretty low maintenance, stick them in and forget about them till spring as they have everything they need in their bulb.

They generally perennialise but I have noticed some are better than others at this!

Let me know your favourites - Fencourt Jewel is always a favourite variety of mine as I love the little guys but precocious is stealing the show this season.

What have I been picking this week is slowly shifting.

Daffodils have been in full flush, new varieties popping open every day. I just love daffodils on mass.
