Kitchen Design Decisions You Might Be Overlooking.
When planning your dream kitchen, it’s easy to focus on the big-picture ideas –colours, finishes, and layout. But it’s often the finer details that make a huge difference to how your kitchen works day to day.
Here are a few key things that are commonly overlooked in early design stages:
▪️Appliance Allowances
Fridges need specific cavity dimensions to allow for airflow and prevent overheating — get this wrong, and you risk voiding your warranty.
▪️Poor Placement
We often see plans where the fridge is placed too far from the prep zone or pantry, making food prep and grocery unpacking more frustrating than it needs to be.
▪️Workflow and Handedness
Left-handed? Right-handed? Thinking through your kitchen habits (like which hand you use to prep, where you like your sink in relation to your hob) helps create a space that truly works for you.
▪️Microwave Placement
Too high, too low, wrong hinge side, microwave positioning is a safety and usability issue we always consider carefully.
These are just a few of the thoughtful design calls our team makes behind the scenes to ensure your kitchen isn’t just beautiful, but works beautifully, too.
