🌸 Blossom Festival 2026 🌸

What a cracker of a day at this year’s Blossom Festival!

Skevingtons was proud to have three of our trucks rolling through the parade, all polished up and looking pretty sharp. 🚛🚛🚛

It was awesome to be part of such a great local event, with the streets packed, plenty of familiar faces and a brilliant community atmosphere.

A big thanks to everyone who gave the team a wave, and a cheer as we went past — we loved being part of it!

🏃 THE 55TH ANNUAL KELLY’S CANTER IS BACK! 🏃‍♀️

Palmerston Lions Club is gearing up for another year of the iconic Kelly’s Canter, proudly supported by Skevingtons!

📅 Sunday 18th October 2026
📍 Skevingtons Yard (Collins Old Yard), behind the Railway Station
⏰ Race starts at 2pm

💰 Cash prizes up for grabs!

Entry is just $5 for adults and $2 for school children, with family, club and corporate 3-person teams welcome too.

Whether you’re racing for the win, having a crack with your workmates, or just coming along to support the brave souls tackling the hill, it’ll be a great afternoon out!

One of our D10's has been getting a bit of TLC… and by TLC, we mean the engine’s been pulled apart and given the full rebuild treatment.

Won’t be long before the old girl is back together, fired up and back doing what a D10 does best - moving a serious amount of dirt!

Machine Operator and Labourers

Skevingtons is looking for Machine Operators/Labourers to join our team based in Central Otago with an immediate start. Both fixed term and permanent role opportunities are available.

The ideal candidates must have proven experience in operating machinery.

Experience in operating Excavators and/or dozers would be a bonus.

Combined with a great work ethic, we are looking for people who can work unsupervised or as part of a team. Have a strong commitment to Health and Safety and are flexible within their work hours.

Along with the above, the ideal candidate will have.
• Have the ability to use their own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
• Display flexibility with operations and maintenance
• Be willing to participate in internal and external training
• Be a good communicator and be able to keep accurate records.

Pay rates will be negotiated based on skill level, qualifications and licences. New Zealand Driver licence minimum full class 1. (The ability to drive manual vehicles is essential). Other licences an advantage.

A pre –employment medical/drug test may be required. All candidates for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Junior Estimator/ Surveyor

Skevingtons is looking for a motivated and reliable individual with a genuine interest in surveying and civil construction to join our team. A surveying certificate or equivalent qualification, along with practical industry experience, is desirable.

Along with the above, you will be able to.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and forecasting data
• Support contract administration and procurement activities
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Produce high-quality survey plans, charts, and technical drawings
• Maintain accurate and consistent project documentation

What You’ll Bring
• Experience in surveying and/or civil construction operations
• Strong Health & Safety focus
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
• Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence (manual essential)
• Flexibility with work hours
