SEPTEMBER | THE BREAKDOWN

Another month, another stack of projects, and plenty happening across our sites! From heritage renovations to large-scale commercial fit-outs, the team has been busy making things happen behind the scenes. Here’s what September looked like for us 👇

1. Heritage meets high performance A massive heritage renovation is underway, with a 46 kW VRV system being installed and integrated with underfloor heating. Blending modern mechanical services with a heritage build? Now that’s a project!

2. First fix is officially underway We’ve kicked off first-fix mechanical services on another C*D fit-out. Getting the groundwork right now sets the project up for a smooth run through the next stages.

3. Getting closer to the finish line Another project is in its final stages, with cassette unit installations being wrapped up. The finishing touches are coming together!

4. Exposed ducting, exposed excellence Our Wellington office fit-out is taking shape, and the client is loving the look of the exposed ductwork. Practical airflow meets an industrial aesthetic. We love to see it!

5. Fresh air incoming Another project is underway with heat recovery systems going in. Better ventilation, improved energy efficiency, and smarter mechanical design — all part of the bigger picture.

6. VRV upgrades in progress We’ve been out on site assessing existing VRV systems, including branch box upgrades to accommodate additional indoor units. Because sometimes the best solution is making the existing system work smarter.

7. Measure twice, install once Site visits are a big part of getting the details right. On another major Wellington fit-out, we’re checking mechanical services penetrations to make sure everything is correctly positioned and coordinated before the next stages progress. The details matter!

August has been a massive one for the Airficient team, with projects progressing across Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Whitford.

Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to:

1. A sneak peek at another beautiful project nearing the finish line.

Another stage completed on our carpark mechanical services installation.

Designed for smoke control applications, the HCD-ET provides tight sealing and precise airflow control, with elevated temperature performance for commercial building applications.

Alongside the damper installation, our team has also installed the carpark exhaust fan system to support effective ventilation and smoke management.

Seamless by design🔥. Engineered behind the scenes.
This renovation called for a fully bespoke approach to integrating the Air-conditioning system into the client’s wardrobe and joinery.

We designed and installed a custom bulkhead system that allowed the mechanical services to be concealed within the architecture, while maintaining the necessary clearances, airflow and access required for the system to perform correctly.

To complete the look, we fabricated and installed custom powder-coated grilles, carefully selected and finished to complement the surrounding wardrobe and create a refined, architectural appearance.

The real challenge with a renovation like this is ensuring the mechanical installation works seamlessly alongside the existing structure and the new finishes. Every measurement, set-out and installation stage needs to be carefully considered before anything is fabricated.

We worked closely with the builder throughout the project, coordinating our installation with the construction programme and other trades to keep everything moving efficiently and avoid compromising the finished design.

What looks simple in the finished space is the result of detailed planning, precision fabrication and a lot of coordination behind the scenes.

Another busy stretch for the team, with multiple projects happening across the board!
From laying 3-pipe VRV pipework through trenches, to delivering massive custom premium builds, our team continues to take on projects of all sizes and complexities.

We’re also working across school projects, replacing old heat pump systems with new, efficient units, as well as tackling commercial office fit-outs.

Project Completed & Successfully Handed Over | Premium VRV HVAC Solution.

We’re proud to have completed and handed over another premium project, delivering a high-performance Daikin New Zealand VRV HVAC solution designed around individual comfort, energy efficiency, architectural integration, and space optimisation.

For each property, we engineered and installed an individual Daikin VRV system, allowing the bedrooms to be independently controlled for personalised comfort and temperature management. The system incorporated bulkhead indoor units within the bedrooms, together with a ducted indoor unit, all connected to the same outdoor VRV system.

This configuration provided several key advantages:
• Individual zone control
• Demand-based operation
• Reduced external footprint
• Architectural integration
• System flexibility & efficiency

From a project-delivery perspective, this was a challenging programme with a tight construction timeframe, detailed coordination requirements, and a high level of finish expected across every property.

Our team worked closely through the planning, coordination, installation, commissioning, and final handover stages to ensure the HVAC installation met the required technical and architectural standards.

The result is a carefully engineered HVAC solution that combines comfort, efficiency, space optimisation, and discreet architectural integration — exactly what is expected from a premium development.
