Back with the digger today recontouring the land profiles and placing large ignambrite boulders into what will become the stream bed from a showpiece waterfall down into the huge retention pond designed to cope with the close to 2000m2 of hard surfaces that drain storm water into it!
A practical conversion into a major feature!

Installed two of the frames today that will ultimately become an evolution of our Kavern subterranean living system.
The more I visit this stunning location and revel in its potential and get to know the custodians the more inspired I become!
The massive dimensions of the custom milled and hand crafted Redwood connects with the wild view looking north!

Muzza is cutting the massive curved beams for a "cave" structure we are building for an entertainment space overlooking the Raglan harbour.
Beautifully freshly milled yesterday from a 900mm diameter log cut from a 100 year old Redwood tree grown here in the Waikato, we got to work on the 100mm thick slabs and 250x250 support columns in preparation to deliver and install onsite.
I love working with the world's biggest tree, the timber is very honest and naturally durable and sustainably grown!

Called into look around one of my favourite heretage sites in Hamilton which we have had much involvement in with hard landscaping, planting, erosion control, seating and pathways.
This almost hidden memorial setting is nestled into the basin below Armagh St and looks over the extensive Wetland restorative planting we did well over a decade ago.
It's so humbling to realize the massive dedication of the volunteer groups involved in this Civic gem of a destination and the historical story behind it!

A visit to buy up a stock of Acer's gave a reason to walk the property in advanced Autumn!
Although there has already been much leaffall, the colour was spectacular and it was good to have a good yak with the creators of this private sanctuary as they contemplate a new future.
It's certainly been an honor to be asked to put our mark on this masterpiece, absolute legends!

Last night was one of the best live shows of my life for several different reasons!
We worked out I'd first seen Split Enz at the Founders Theater, Hamilton in the mid seventies so that's 50 years between my first and possibly last show, spellbound by NZs most iconic band. Invigorating audience participation, supremely enthusiastic musicianship, trademark costumes, vivid graphics and nostalgic banter pulled together to make this evening very very special!
Support band Hans Pucket deserves an honourable mention as well!

31st March in one of the best civic gardens in NZ, I stumbled across a lovely volunteer lady who says she has spent the last 25 years tending to what must be the very best display of Dahlias I've ever seen, made me a little teary as my mother would have been ecstatic to have been beside me!

Haven't posted for awhile so here's another image showing the hard landscaping we did here around 5 years ago.
The mature trees are the genius of the current clients/custodians but we were invited to create a large scale water feature which we have done by partially diverting an existing stream that flows through the property.
Very proud how it has all worked out, even with the challenging nerosion pollution problems from upstream farming operations.

Maintenance day on this historic 60s property that has an impressive view looking up the Waikato River from the immaculately kept Homestead!
However what was an overgrown wasteland down here in the gully adjacent to a major stream that drains the Fairfield area we have over the last decade created a wetland restoration over several properties that we are very proud of.
The hard work that goes with working in Hamilton's extensive gully systems is truly rewarding when you get results like this, the Nikau's being particularly outstanding in this view!

This staggering property is really coming in to its Autumn peak at present and recent storms have refreshed and cleansed everything into sharpness.
One could be fooled into thinking this was Japan?
