A little bit of this & a little bit of that from an Ōtaki Beach reno!

What started as a replacement of doors & windows and minor aesthetic work earlier in the year - has evolved into a re-clad, re-roof, new insulation, soffits, wrap, lintel fixings & butynol deck. Really quirky house to work on & a great management challenge keeping clients in the loop and subcontractors organised.

Cladding: vertical random pattern Oblique
Soffits: mix of Hardie flex & Hardie groove
Joinery: Aluminium with recycled Rimu reveals
Roof: 5 Rib profile in Sandscape

I don’t consider myself great at drawing, but I once heard someone say:
“brains are great at having ideas, not storing them”

And I drink the kool aid on that.

Even if I know what and how I’m doing something, it goes on paper. Ya never know, it might make room for some better ideas 🙂🧠

Today we finished adding on a lean-to clear roof and low profile deck to the Otaihanga shed apartment for some extra space for a busy household 😎

A lot of screen-time this week 🫪

Feature rough sawn Macrocapa rain screen on the edge of an outdoor lounge to match the cladding elsewhere on the house.
Every length milled to have a 5degree bevel

In my opinion - this stuff is bullet proof.
It’s been under the existing deck getting wet for two years & it’s still straight, true & good as new (apart from a few cobwebs).
Plus being Bamboo, it’s effectively the fastest growing deck timber possible.
This is not an ad or any influenced post, just genuinely like the product & wanted to share my opinion.

This is Roydon.
He was building the garage while I was working on starting the fit out. The man had some great tales & a cool look which I thought would be a cool portrait.
I was keen on this wall for a composition but unfortunately, I chickened out of asking him at the start of lunch when there was great contrast light (see the second pic).
But the under-stated mellow mono-lighting made for a cool image too. Maybe more like his vibe.
