Calamagrostis Overdam is a striking ornamental grass cultivar that features green and white variegated leaves and feathery flower spikes that emerge reddish-brown and mature to a soft buff colour. This clump-forming grass grows to around 60-90cm in height and has a spread of about 30-60cm, making it a great choice for planting in borders, rock gardens and containers. Calamagrostis Overdam is easy to grow and maintain, tolerates a wide range of soil types and is drought-resistant once established. Hygrophila polysperma is from South-East Asia and is paticularly good for plant beginners because it grows in almost any conditions. It is primarily a submersed rooted plant, but can be emersed in shallow areas with smaller, darker leaves. It's appearance varies considerably in leaf shape and colour, depending to some extent on the light supplied, but tends to form green-redish elliptical leaves that can be grown as either as a ground cover or oxygenating plant. Provides good shelter for fish.

Gratiola Sexdentata a deep water oxygenator. Lovely lush green plant with small white tubular flowers. Present in wetlands where it grows along slow flowing streams, in pools of water or amongst sedges and reeds (but only in open sites as it dislikes heavy shade). Gratiola is widespread throughout the North and South Islands, can be locally common but often absent from large parts of the country.
