Proud moment for the team at Po***ck Cranes.

Earlier this month, our team had the privilege of carrying out a major crane lift for the Hārania Flood Resilience Project in Māngere — a project co-funded by Auckland Council and Central Government that will help protect homes, infrastructure, and the local community from future flooding events.

Using one of New Zealand’s largest mobile cranes, our team safely lifted and positioned a critical 36m-long section of the Eastern Interceptor pipe as part of this significant infrastructure upgrade. The total lift weight for the pipe was 116 tonnes, which was placed at close to 50m radius. A temporary bridge was also installed to allow the crane and supporting equipment safe access to the site to complete this impressive lift. Projects of this scale require extensive planning, teamwork, and precision, and we’re extremely proud of the effort put in by everyone involved both on site and behind the scenes.

It’s always rewarding to be part of work that leaves a lasting impact on Auckland’s future, and we appreciate the opportunity to contribute to such an important project.

A special thank you to Fulton Hogan — it was a pleasure working alongside their team throughout this project.

A huge thank you as well to our operators, riggers, transport teams, and support staff whose professionalism and hard work made this lift a success.

Tight access. Zero room for error.

Po***ck Cranes Hiab lifted a 500kg hardtop onto a 14m Herley Boats boat with less than 100mm clearance to spare. The Hiab stayed outside the shed doors while the lift was carried out with absolute precision from start to finish.

A job that required careful planning, steady hands, and pinpoint accuracy. Great result all round.

Po***ck Cranes was engaged by Mount Maunganui Engineering to supply a 100ton all terrain crane, along with a highly skilled, certified rigger/dogman and specialist rigging equipment.

This setup was essential for the safe and precise removal of critical rudder components from the vessel Belle Plaine (formerly Hong Kong) while it was docked at Mount Maunganui Wharf.

The scope of work also included transport to and from the repair facilities. The team worked closely with port authorities to ensure all lifting operations complied with wharf structural requirements, using specialist outrigger matting to effectively distribute loads.

Achieving another fabulous result on our annual Tōtika assessment is no small feat, it really speaks to the strength of our health and safety culture.

Our team has hit the sweet spot! They aren't just following the safety systems, they’re actually owning them through relevant feedback and continuous improvement. When the people on the ground feel empowered to suggest changes, the systems naturally become more practical and effective.

A huge well done to the whole crew for their hard work and commitment to keeping everyone safe!

When a manufacturer trusts you with their own equipment, you know you’re doing something right.

Heavy haulage isn't just about horsepower, it’s about precision planning and technical ex*****on. Whether it's navigating tight urban corners or specialised route surveys, our team ensures your mission-critical equipment arrives on time and without a scratch.

Watching a vessel of this scale move through the streets never gets old.

Our team at Po***ck Cranes used their ESS Module unit to ensure a smooth, stable journey for this impressive new asset for the Director of TRT, Bruce Carden.

We don't just move freight, we move the infrastructure that builds the future.

Po***ck Cranes was engaged by Foster Construction to transport and erect a Potain MCR295 tower crane at the University of Waikato’s new Medical School site. The crane was configured with 25 metres of mast and a 55 metre luffing jib.

The primary crane used for the installation was a Grove GMK6220L, supported by a Liebherr LTM1090-4.2 for ground pre-assembly, while a GMK3060 handled loading out at the other end.

To transport the tower crane components, Po***ck Cranes also supplied three tractor units with semi-trailers, carrying sections up to 16 metres in length. With space on site limited to just one truck at a time, every load was carefully planned and coordinated to ensure each component arrived exactly when needed, keeping the assembly process smooth and efficient.

In total, nine loads were delivered safely to site and hoisted into place within a single day, helping to minimise disruption to the worksite.

Po***ck Cranes is proud to be part of a project that will deliver safer, more accessible train stations for Aucklanders.
To reach this first major milestone, we deployed 5 cranes full time, delivering a combined lifting capacity of over 1,400 tonnes, supported by a 14-strong crew with multiple crane movements across multiple sites.
Alongside routine lifts, the team tackled several major heavy lifts, some weighing north of 40 tonnes, with our heavy haulage team playing a critical role in safely moving large precast units from A to B.
This work was completed through 12-hour days and multiple 24/7 shifts, right through the holiday period (27.12.25 – 26.1.26) — while most people were on break, our crew was getting it done.
Huge thanks to Auckland Transport and Oxcon for the opportunity, and a massive shout-out to our team for the dedication, skill, and hard work so far.

Auckland Transport Walkway Relocation

Client: Manson Engineering Ltd
Industry: Infrastructure / Transport
Location: Henderson, Auckland

Project Overview

Manson Engineering engaged Po***ck Cranes to relocate newly manufactured walkway sections for the Auckland Transport Walkway project. Each section measured 33 metres long by 6 metres wide, requiring specialist lifting, maneuvering, and transport solutions. The sections were moved from the manufacturing facility on Paramount Drive, Henderson, to the Selwood Road slipway/berthage for barge loading.

Over a 12-month period, four identical walkway structures were successfully transported and loaded using complex tandem lift and relocation procedures.

Scope of Work

Relocation of 33m x 6m walkway sections from factory to slipway

Provision of heavy-lift cranes and specialised transport equipment

Tandem lift operations to remove walkway sections from the factory

Night relocation to slipway for high-tide barge loading

Coordination with the client to ensure safe, efficient workflow

Completion of the process for four separate walkway sections

Equipment Utilised

Grove GMK6300L all-terrain crane

Tractor unit with 2R8 load divider and T-bar

4R8 Jinker with T-bar

Skidding equipment for controlled extraction from factory building

Methodology & Ex*****on

Space constraints inside the factory required precise lift planning and a combined skidding and tandem-lift approach. The walkway sections were first skidded out of the building until sufficient clearance allowed the GMK6300L crane to take full load.

The crane then executed a controlled lift, raising each walkway section up and over the factory structure and adjacent tree line, placing it directly onto the prepared transport units positioned on the road.

To minimise public disruption and maximise safety, the crane, transport units, and walkway sections were relocated at night to the Selwood Road slipway. On arrival, the lifting team prepared for a high-tide barge lift, ensuring optimal draft clearance and precise placement aboard the incoming barge.

Challenges

Limited space inside the manufacturing facility

Complex lifting angles required to clear building and tree obstructions

Large structure size demanding high-capacity lifting and specialised transport

Coordination with tidal windows for barge loading

Ensuring safety across multiple identical operations over 12 months

Outcome

All four walkway sections were successfully transported and loaded without incident. Detailed planning, skilled ex*****on, and effective communication with Manson Engineering ensured a smooth operation from start to finish. The project demonstrated Po***ck Cranes' capability in large-scale, high-precision infrastructure relocations.

Last week Oxcon hosted a Safety Afternoon at our Po***ck Cranes Auckland yard, setting up five hands-on stations focused on key critical risks: excavations, work at heights, exclusion zones, crane operations and crane permit procedures.

We were proud to run the crane operations station, with Ben Mills, Alfie MaCahill and Kirsty Hutcheson presenting, and Andrew Cameron on the controls. Some of the Oxcon team even had a go at do***ng a load (safely supervised, of course!)

A great afternoon of collaboration, learning and positive engagement from everyone involved. Awesome to see both teams working together to lift safety standards even higher! 🚧💪🔧
