FLASHBACK FRIDAY!!!!

In 2013 we were approached to make a Pop-up Opera Theatre. This was made for our Hong Kong based clients, and their business partners, as part of their mission to bring the arts into the community and to make the art of opera accessible to all.

This custom designed Alispan structure measures 10m x 9m with a 6m tall back wall sloping to 3m at the front, to give it a ‘real’ theatre feel. It was mounted on a heavy-duty integrated floor system that supplies the bulk of the ballast weight. The structure features double walls for superior acoustics and was made from Ferrari 702 PVC that has been fully digitally printed with an eye-catching deep red theatre curtain finish. Fully engineered to meet the very stringent Hong Kong building code the Pop-up Opera Theatre is fully air conditioned and holds a 6-metre cinema screen and comfortable seating for 40 opera-goers.

Please welcome Archie, Andrew's Cavoodle, who has officially joined the office as our Chief Happiness Officer. While technically unpaid, he's already outperforming everyone in morale, cuteness and fun!

Honestly, every workplace deserves an Archie.

Last week, I had the privilege of celebrating one of Baytex's key staff members, Shyla Kokiri, and her latest achievement. Shyla and her family attended the MAST marine fabricators apprenticeship awards evening, where we enjoyed seeing her well-deserved recognition for completing her textile fabricators trade training.

It was inspiring to see Shyla not only accomplish this milestone in her career pathway but also motivate her teammates to pursue their own trade certificates. Her dedication and passion for her craft are a testament to the culture of growth and development we foster at Baytex.

Congratulations, Shyla! You are an inspiration to us all, and I look forward to seeing how you continue to influence and uplift those around you in the future.

✨ Meet Debbie! ✨
Debbie is one of the fabulous sewers in our Lining Department and is usually found surrounded by piles of our beautiful silk lining fabric… or occasionally relaxing on it 😂 (she actually looks pretty angelic!).
She’s been part of the Baytex team for 2.5 years and is an incredibly valued team member. With a background in high-end NZ-made fashion, Debbie brings a meticulous eye for detail to everything she creates.
When she’s not sewing, she’s busy renovating her home - and according to Debbie, there’s still loads to do! A hard worker through and through, she’s also reliable, fun, and a fantastic addition to the Baytex team 💛
