WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
Let’s give a massive round of applause to the winners of our October Belco Boost – Omokoroa Youth Project!!!

We are proud to support this brand-new community initiative created for local youth (aged 12–16) in and around Ōmokoroa. Designed to give young people an inclusive, safe space to connect and build friendships, the group had a fantastic turnout of 35 attendees for their opening night. We look forward to following their progress and seeing the positive impact this space brings to our community

Thanks to everyone who participated in October’s Belco Boost – your passion for community is fantastic! Get ready for November’s competition opening on the 1st.

NEW BLOG - BELCO TURNS 30!

Thirty years of building. Forty six industry awards. Countless concrete pours, hundreds of timber frames erected, and many happy customers across the Bay of Plenty.

If we take a step back in time to 1996 when it all started - Mike and Kathy were officially transforming Mike Bell Builder into Belco Homes Ltd. What was going on at building sites in 1996? Corded tools and hammers were the norm, as well as single-glazed windows and low spec insulation. Claddings were commonly fixed straight to the framing (no cavity battens in sight)! Plans were either hand-drawn or just starting to cross over into early CAD programs. The only way of communication was via landlines and faxes, and if you wanted to talk to somebody on site you had to drive out to see them in person. Oh how things have changed!

"We felt like we won the building lottery when it came to working with the Belco crew. Dan, Dale, Mike, Kathy and the gang were amazing, guiding our family through major renovations with practicality, kindness, humour and ingenuity. They managed to resurrect our old house and transform it into the most incredible home.

It was a long process from the initial concept plans and subsequent planning to the final handover of the keys. We had to ensure we were doing the right thing financially. But the investment has been worth it and we have now made our space in the world.

We are so glad we built with Belco. Tailor made to who we are as a family, we have found an enormous sense of peace. They have built to stand the test of time and created an experience in the process that we will always treasure."

DESIGN TIP - Selecting hardware ✨

👉Be Consistent
When choosing metal finishes for your home, consistency creates instant visual harmony. Carrying your main chosen finish—whether it’s brushed brass, matte black, brushed nickel, or other—across tapware, cabinet handles, door hardware, shower fittings etc makes every space feel connected.

👉Layer it up
If you choose to mix metals, sticking to two finishes maximum throughout the house (e.g. matte black hardware with warm brass tapware) can add a layer of depth and sophistication to your space while still keeping the overall look cohesive.

👉 Be intentional
The key to how to mix metals in your home is to do it in a way that feels cohesive and intentional. You want it to feel like a design feature rather than a mismatch of finishes.
