🏗️ PROJECT COMPLETE | TE KURA O TE PAROA 🏗️

Another one across the line! ✅

We’re proud to have completed and handed over this new SmartSteel building for Te Kura o Te Paroa, providing the kura with a large, practical covered area alongside secure enclosed storage.

From foundations through to the structure, roofing, cladding, roller door, electrical and final finishing touches, our team managed the project through to completion — all while working around an active school environment and a few challenges Mother Nature threw our way along the journey.

The finished result is simple, functional and built to last — exactly what was needed. 👌
A massive thank you to Erin and the team at Te Kura o Te Paroa for trusting us with the project and for working alongside us throughout the build.

There’s something pretty rewarding about delivering a project like this, knowing it will provide a practical space for the kura and its tamariki for many years to come. 💚

🏗️ Got an old shed that’s looking a little tired?

Not every shed needs replacing.

While our team was on site completing a new build for this client, we were also asked what we could do with their existing shed.

The answer? Give it a new lease on life.

We stripped the old roofing and cladding, re-roofed and reclad the existing structure, and replaced all three roller doors — completely transforming the building without the need to start again.

And that’s something we’re happy to offer alongside our new builds.

For us, it’s about making the whole project easier for the client. If there are existing buildings on your property that need attention while we’re already there, talk to us. 🏗️ –Te Kura O Te Paroa PROJECT UPDATE | WHAKATĀNE

The finish line is getting close at 🙌 Te Kura O Te Paroa
A bit of typical winter wind and rain has slowed us down slightly over the past couple of weeks, but the team has kept pushing on whenever the weather has allowed.

The new shed and adjoining carport are really starting to come together now. The shed is largely closed in, the roller door is installed, and we’re down to the final sections of roofing and flashings before we can start wrapping this one up.

Working within an operating kura always takes a bit of extra planning and coordination, particularly around keeping the site separated and safe — but it’s great to see the project reaching this stage.

A few more good weather days and we’ll be just about there! 👌

Events like this are about far more than a great day out. The rescue helicopter is a vital service for Taupō and our wider rural community, often reaching people when time, distance and access can make all the difference.

Keeping it flying relies heavily on community support, sponsorship and donations, so every entry, bid, volunteer hour and contribution genuinely matters.

A massive congratulations to the organisers, volunteers, competitors, sponsors and everyone who got behind the event. More than $110,000 has now been raised over four years—an outstanding achievement for an incredibly important cause.

We’re grateful to have played a small part in supporting something that is there for all of us when it is needed most. 🚁🐕💚

On Thursday we had the privilege of presenting a cheque to the **Greenlea Rescue Helicopter** from the proceeds of this year's **Bayleys Sheep Dog Trials**—a moment that reminds us why this event means so much to so many.

This year, together, we raised an amazing **$35,669.42**.

Even more incredibly, over the four years the Bayleys Sheep Dog Trials has been running, our wonderful community has now contributed a phenomenal **$110,000.00+** to help keep the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter flying. That is a milestone every single person involved can be proud of.

To **Yvonne, Grace and the entire team at Bayleys Taupō**—thank you for your unwavering support and belief in what we're trying to achieve. From day one, you've been by our side, and we simply couldn't do it without you.

To our incredible behind-the-scenes volunteers, especially those who spend countless hours preparing the sheep for the event, thank you. While your work isn't always seen, it is the foundation on which this event is built. Your dedication, commitment and willingness to give your time make this success possible.

And finally, to our sponsors, competitors, auction donors, buyers, volunteers and everyone who came along to support the event—thank you. Every entry, every bid, every donation and every helping hand has contributed to something far bigger than a sheep dog trial.

Together, we've built an event that not only celebrates our rural community and the skill of our dogs and handlers, but also gives back to a service that is there for all of us when we need it most.

We're excited to be kicking off this incredible custom shed house project, and this one is going to be something pretty special.

Designed as the ultimate lifestyle retreat, this build combines modern living with a seriously impressive shed—plenty of space for the toys, the workshop, and everything in between. A true bloke's shed, done right.

This project is a fantastic collaboration between Jay's Towing & Boat Haulage , Project Zero Architecture, and SmartSteel Buildings, bringing together great design, practical thinking, and quality construction.

From an empty section to what will soon become an incredible home and shed combination, we can't wait to share the journey with you every step of the way.

🌅 The early bird gets the concrete!

While most people were still asleep, the team was already on site in Whakatāne getting another floor underway. Starts like these keep projects moving and make the most of the day.

A huge thank you to Concrete Pumping Services Whakatane for a smooth pumping job, Beulah Services for supplying the concrete, and Burns Concrete Placing for putting in the hard yards from the early hours of the morning.

We appreciate working alongside great local contractors who take pride in what they do. Looking forward to seeing this project continue to take shape over the coming weeks.

🎨 The right colour combination can completely transform a building.

This 12m × 12m truck shed is a great example of how carefully selected colours can create a building that really stands out.

For this project, the client chose Lichen wall cladding, Ironsand flashings, and Scoria roller doors. On their own, they may not be the first colours you'd think to pair together, but the finished result speaks for itself. The contrast creates a bold, timeless look that gives the building real character.

Choosing feature colours for flashings, doors and trims is a simple way to personalise your shed and make it uniquely yours. It's often these finer details that elevate a standard building into something truly eye-catching.

Another exciting project is coming to Taupō. 🚧

This blank canvas won't stay empty for long.

In August, we'll be breaking ground on an impressive 800m² commercial building, complete with a mezzanine floor, modern office space, and warehouse facilities.

As our presence across the Central Plateau continues to grow, it's fantastic to see another major project coming to life right here in Taupō.

Over the coming months, we'll be taking you behind the scenes as this development transforms from an empty site into another quality SmartSteel Building.

Another SmartSteel building officially handed over to our client. 👌

This project has now reached handover, with the client taking over for painting and the final fit-off before moving into their new premises.

Featuring a spacious workshop, full office and amenities, mezzanine storage, internal roller door, and plenty of natural light, this building has been designed to deliver a practical, functional workspace built to stand the test of time.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project together.
From our suppliers and contractors to our own team, it's been another fantastic effort.

Now it's time to roll straight into the next project. 💪
