Recently, the A-Gas Rapid Recovery team partnered with Fonko NZ Ltd to complete a large-scale refrigeration retrofit project at a supermarket in Auckland.

While Fonko carried out the condenser replacement works, the A-Gas Rapid Recovery team safely and efficiently recovered more than 530 kg of R404A, preventing the release of over 2,000 metric tonnes of CO₂e into the atmosphere through responsible refrigerant recovery.

A-Gas also supplied 582 kg of the lower-GWP alternative, R449A, as the replacement refrigerant. With a CO₂e of approximately 745 metric tonnes, the transition reduced the site's refrigerant-related carbon footprint by more than two-thirds.

To minimise disruption, all work was completed overnight. The refrigeration rack was taken offline late in the evening and successfully recommissioned before the store opened the following morning, allowing business to continue as usual.

This project is another great example of collaboration, technical expertise, and sustainable refrigerant management in action.

It was a pleasure working with the Fonko team, and we look forward to collaborating on future projects.

A huge thank you to our teams across New Zealand and Australia for supporting our recent community food drive.

Our New Zealand team donated goods to Waka of Caring, a volunteer-led community hub supporting families in the Manurewa community through food parcels, support services and a free store. It’s a fantastic organisation making a real difference locally, and we’re proud to have supported them.

Our Australian team also got behind the initiative, delivering a ute full of donations to Foodbank Victoria, which provides more than 70% of Victoria’s food relief and assists over 75,000 people every day.

We also had the opportunity to meet Foodbank Victoria CEO Dave McNamara, who spoke with us about the growing demand for food relief as cost-of-living pressures continue to impact more communities.

We're proud to play a small part in supporting the communities where we live and work.
