What an exciting day, from today, you can now build a granny flat up to 70m2 without resource or building consent. However there are still some important facts to keep in mind, all work including design must be done by registered LBP (Licensed Building Pracitioners) which I am, and happy to recommend a good team of builders, and other local tradies who are registered LBP's

Homeowners applying for a granny flat PIM may be required to pay a development contribution fee, which is a one off fee to help councils fund infrastructure and services to meet increased demand from new dwellings, which Rotorua Council charges.

Sam is an Architectural Designer and Licensed Building Practitioner based in Rotorua.

Sam has being in the building industry for 20 plus years, with experience in rep support for local building supplier and pre-cut / truss detailing.

For the last 7 years I having being working along side an amazing local Architectural Designer who has helped and encouraged me to grow and develop many new and exciting skills in architectural design.
