Waimak Contracting is looking for 2 labourers and 1 experienced concrete placer to join our growing team due to an increasing workload.
We specialise in residential and rural concrete work, including:�• Excavation and site preparation�• Boxing and reinforcing�• Concrete placing and finishing�• Driveways, paths, patios, and more
What we’re looking for:�✅ Reliable and hardworking people�✅ Own transport and ability to get to our yard in Sefton/Waikuku�✅ Positive attitude and willingness to learn�✅ Not afraid of a bit of hard work
Bonus points if you have:�• Experience in the construction or concrete industry�• Class 2 licence
Experience is preferred but not essential for the labouring roles – the right attitude is more important.
This role would suit someone based in the North Canterbury area, as our yard is located in the Sefton/Waikuku area.

Transforming outdoor spaces into havens, we helped these awesome clients in Pegasus bring their vision to life, a private retreat and newly landscaped area complete with foundation for proposed Man cave, and clothesline service area. Our team worked tirelessly, excavating 50 tons of soil the old fashioned way by wheel barrow having limited access installing sump and new drainage before preparing for the new concrete areas

Today’s thoughts on the concrete trade:

It’s frustrating to see how every trade seems to raise their prices for call-outs and travel, but as concreters, we often lose jobs just for putting our prices up.

With everyone undercutting each other, it’s driving down both our prices and quality. After over 10 years in the game, our m2 rate for floors has only gone up by $1.50! Compare that to other trades and it’s absolutely nuts!!

Isn’t it time we consider a concrete union like the brickies have? A union could set a minimum price and help us get what we deserve. Concrete placers are some of the hardest workers and their bodies take a beating, yet they’re often the lowest paid.

I wonder how many concrete placers or businesses would actually like to be a part of a union?

We’re looking for a reliable Class 2 Truck Driver to join our growing team.

About the Role:
• Driving Class 2 trucks
• Assisting with house excavations and concrete preparation
• Working alongside diggers and crew on residential sites
• General site duties as required

What We’re Looking For:
✅ Current Class 2 licence (essential)
✅ Class 4 licence – bonus but not required
✅ Excavator experience – bonus but not required
✅ Good work ethic and reliability
✅ Ability to work well in a team

We are currently seeking a Class 2 truck driver/labourer to join our preparation crew in preparing concrete and asphalt driveways and car parks. Based in Waikuku, reliable transportation to and from the yard is essential. Previous experience in contracting or civil work would be an advantage.
