A little behind the scenes at blower door testing onsite šØ
A blower door test uses a powerful fan which is fitted into the doorway changing the air pressure inside the house. We test under both positive and negative pressure, pushing air in and drawing it out to simulate how the home will perform under different conditions.
This helps us find any spots where air is sneaking through, like around windows, doors and other junctions.
Airtightness is key to building a high performance home. Uncontrolled air leakage can lead to heat loss, draughts, higher energy use and moisture entering places it shouldnāt.
We do this while the home is still under construction, so leaks can be found and fixed while they are still accessible. Itās one of the ways we check the home is performing as intended, not just on paper, but in practice.
