As we head into the long winter months, keeping your family warm and comfortable is paramount to a healthy home.
So taking some time before winter really sets in, to check the condition of your insulation is so important. If you can see gaps and spaces or deterioration to your existing insulation, consider having it replaced or re-fitted.
Basically, heat flows from warmer to cooler areas until there is no longer a temperature difference. Your precious (and expensive!) heat can flow indirectly through interior ceilings, walls and floors - wherever there is a temperature difference. Properly insulating your home will decrease this heat flow by providing an effective resistance to the flow of heat. It can also help reduce your heating costs dramatically!
- take a look at some thermal imaging of my home. The light blue colouring that you can see in the thermal picture are cold spots where insulation is missing or not correctly installed and where heat is being lost.
