Before heading away, take a couple of minutes to check the electrical basics at home.
✔️ Turn off unnecessary appliances.
✔️ Make sure outdoor electrical equipment is safe and weather-appropriate.
✔️ Check that smoke alarms are working.
✔️ If you're leaving a heat pump, fridge or other essential appliance running, follow the manufacturer's instructions rather than switching everything off blindly.

And if you're staying home to tackle that renovation list, remember that electrical work is one job best left to a licensed professional (just saying 😉)

Enjoy the long weekend team -take the scenic route, have the extra ice cream, and get home safely.

This year's Mental Health Awareness Week theme is Belonging Matters, and it's a message that really resonates with us.

Whether you're on a job site, in the workshop, behind a desk or at home, knowing you've got people around you who care can make a real difference.

We believe a strong team is about more than working well together. It's about making sure everyone feels included, supported and comfortable speaking up when things aren't going so well.

Through our involvement with MATES in Construction, we've seen the importance of bringing mental health conversations into the workplace.

And it doesn't have to be complicated.

The school holidays are here - the house is about to become a full time charging station...

With the kids home for the school holidays, there'll be more phones, tablets, gaming consoles, laptops and assorted electronics competing for the available power points, so it's worth checking that chargers aren't damaged and power boards aren't being overloaded.

And if your family has reached the point where everyone needs to charge something at once, perhaps it's time to stop playing electrical Tetris and have a proper power point installed.

A much better solution than fighting over the one popular outlet beside the couch 😉

From Motueka to Fiji, being “Totally Dependable” means showing up when there’s work to be done.

Greg and Donna did just that during their trip to the Laser conference. They took part in Taskforce 2026, joining volunteers from across the Laser Group NZ and O’Brien Electrical & Plumbing networks at Nadi District School.

With a record 140 people pitching in, the team worked to improve facilities for a school serving 600 students.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, skills and materials. We were rapt to be part of it, check out this video of the day -

Daylight Saving starts this Sunday, which means the evenings are about to get considerably better for barbecues, garden jobs, walks and generally finding reasons not to come inside yet...

It's also a handy reminder to check your outdoor lighting, security lights, garden power points and anything else that's spent the winter battling the weather.
