Massive thanks to our mates Logan and Suzy for sorting out our shed. Pretty stoked to have a corner with our equipment in the right spot. And part of having a happy team of Trevs, (explanation coming soon) is having a decent decompression chamber. Aka the full fridge.

Thinking about planting some native trees, but not sure where to start?

Join us this Saturday for a workshop on restoration basics. Learn which plants will thrive at your site, how many you'll need, how to prepare the site, and more. Then grab your free native plant, courtesy of Auckland Council!

It's sometimes a hard graft, but it is always worth it.

This puriri tree, which is outside our bedroom window, has been the catalyst, I think, in taking us on this journey. It is there every morning and evening, protecting us from the wind, providing shade in the summer and a place for Chritas (the lads types) to climb and the birds to thrive.

At Chritas Wood, not only do we remove trees that are causing trouble, aren't where they should be, or in a state they shouldn't be in, but we also plant trees because you know what? Right tree, right place.

Love hearing the tui enjoying the puriri, while the piwakawaka flit around. They're my spirit animal.

The NZ native whau (Entelea arborescens) might look soft and lightweight — and that’s exactly why Māori valued it so highly.

Its incredibly buoyant wood was traditionally used for fishing floats, marker buoys, eel fishing gear, and children’s toys. Some say it’s the lightest native timber in Aotearoa.

Fast growing, useful, and uniquely adapted to life beside the coast — another reminder that our native trees were tools, resources, and taonga long before they were landscaping plants.
