Add roof flashing detail to your Revit model in seconds with Flow’s Roof Surface Zones tool.

Create flashing zones along ridges, hips and gable edges, with adjustable widths, fascia overhangs and gable downstands. Review the results in plan and 3D, and refine individual edges to suit your roof.

Less time modelling flashings. More time developing your design.

Upgrading a Revit model is often described as a file conversion: open it in the newer release and save the result.

That may be reasonable for a standalone model. A workshared Revit Server project containing several linked models requires a more coordinated approach.

Our developing Flow Server workflow begins by preserving the complete source project through its original Revit version. Only after those archive results have been verified do the archived copies move forward into the newer version.

This creates three clearly separated project states:

* the original live server project;

* a preserved pre-upgrade archive; and

* the new project prepared for the later Revit Server.

The aim is not to remove professional review or promise a completely unattended upgrade. It is to coordinate the repeatable work, retain meaningful results and stop safely when one model in the project set requires attention.

The third article in our Flow Server series looks at this archive-first approach—and why a successful upgrade should preserve more than the latest files. It should also preserve the history of how the project reached them.

Thinking you need more space? You might already have it.

When a home starts to feel too small, an extension can seem like the obvious answer.

But sometimes the problem isn't how much space you have — it's how that space is being used.

Underused rooms, long hallways, poor storage, awkward layouts or living areas in the wrong part of the house can all make a home feel smaller than it really is.

In the second article in our additions and alterations series, we look at how rethinking the existing floor plan can unlock surprising possibilities — and why it's worth understanding the home you already have before deciding how much more you need to build.

Sometimes the best place to find more space is inside the house you already own.

Archiving a Revit Server project involves more than simply saving another copy.

The second article in our Flow Server development series looks at what it takes to create a dependable project record—from using the correct Revit version and coordinating multiple models to confirming success and protecting the completed archive.

Love where you live, but not quite the house?

Maybe the kitchen feels disconnected, the living areas don't make the most of the sun, you've outgrown parts of the home, or it simply doesn't connect with the garden the way you'd like.

Moving isn't always the answer.

Sometimes the space you need is already there. Sometimes a relatively small change can transform the way the whole house works. And sometimes an addition can unlock possibilities you hadn't considered.

In our latest article, we look at how rethinking the home you already have can create a better version of it — from improving layout and indoor-outdoor connections to comfort, energy efficiency and planning for the future.

**Before you move, it might be worth looking at your home again.**

For a small architectural practice, digital collaboration needs to be reliable—but it also needs to be proportionate.

Our Revit Server environment is hosted on a dedicated cloud server, allowing our team to securely access shared models from different locations without relying on physical infrastructure in the office.

Revit Server provides the model-hosting foundation we need. What it does not provide is an especially approachable way to manage everything surrounding those models: project structures, different Revit versions, archiving, linked-model upgrades and the wider project lifecycle.

That gap led to the development of Flow Server.

Flow Server is not intended to replace Revit Server. It is being developed as a clearer management layer around the infrastructure we already use—turning practice knowledge and sometimes informal processes into workflows that are more visible, repeatable and safe.

In the first article of this development series, we look at why Revit Server still suits our practice, where the friction appears and what we are learning by building around it.
