🔥🚿 No hot water? Sometimes the element isn’t the culprit.

This customer had a brand new element fitted the day before, but the cylinder still wasn’t heating. Our sparky was 5 minutes away, so we popped round to track it down.

🔍 What we checked:
✅ Supply and incoming voltage: all good
✅ Element resistance and earth leakage: all good
❌ Thermostat continuity: faulty

🔧 The fix:
We removed the old thermostat, fitted a new one, set it to 65°C, and confirmed the element was heating properly. An Electrical Safety Certificate was issued for the job.

Hot showers are back on the menu 🙌

Powering up the site, safely ⚡

Our client needed power run from their main building to a second portacom. Managh Electrical took it from first building to finished outlets.

We ran a new supply to the second portacom, with the cabling protected in conduit and fixed securely along the subfloor framing. That keeps it out of the way of foot traffic, gear and weather. We then supplied and installed two weatherproof outdoor power points, mounted where they’re easy to reach but protected from the elements.

On temporary and relocatable buildings, electrical work often gets done on the cheap: extension leads running across the ground, cables left exposed, connections nobody’s checked. That’s how people get hurt and gear gets damaged. Every job we do is installed to code, tested before it’s livened, and signed off with the right certification, so you know it’s safe to use from day one.

Whether it’s a portacom, site office, shed or sleepout, if it needs power, our registered electricians can get it there properly. 🔌

⚡ The electrical side of a bathroom renovation

Our electricians worked alongside the RPW team on this full bathroom renovation. A good bathroom needs more than new fittings. It also needs proper heating, lighting and ventilation. 💡

Here’s what we installed:
✅ A combined heat, light and extraction unit for the main bathroom
✅ An LED light and extraction unit above the new shower
✅ Wiring and switching altered to suit the new layout
✅ A new power point beside the vanity
✅ Wiring for a heated towel rail

Good extraction is one of the most important parts of a bathroom upgrade. Removing moisture at the source helps prevent mould, protects the new paint and Gib, and keeps the room fresh. 🌬️

💡 Brighter aisles, happier shoppers

We recently upgraded the lighting at a retail store in Pahiatua, and the difference speaks for itself.

Our electricians supplied and installed 21 new LED batten lights throughout the shop:
✅ 8 in the front shop area
✅ 10 fitted between the existing lights to brighten the middle aisles
✅ 3 in a new row at the back, where there was no lighting before

We also ran new cable to the front switch so the back lights are now two-way switched. Staff can turn them on or off from the front of the shop without walking to the back.

The result is even, bright light from front to back. Products are easier to see, there are no dark corners, and LED keeps running costs down. 🛒✨

Not a big job on paper… 🫀⚡

If this old switchboard were a heart, it was in serious need of surgery. Our sparkies went in and gave it a new lease on life.

What we did:

🛡️ Fitted 2 x 40A RCDs to the switchboard
💡 Put in 14 x 90 mm dimmable LED downlights

The RCDs cut the power in a split second if something goes wrong, which protects everyone in the house. And the LED downlights you can dim mean better light and lower power bills.

Out with the old, in with the new 🔥❄️

We swapped this lounge's old heat pump for a new Sinclair Vision 8.2 kW split system, mounted on the block wall next to where the old one was. All the pipework is run through tidy ducting inside and out, so the house is set for winter and summer.

The heat pump wasn't the only job on this one. We also:

⚡ Replaced the switchboard with a new board fitted with RCDs and MCBs, then tested and certified it
🔌 Put in a new power point in the garage and fitted a Precision garage door motor, with two remotes and a wall control

The RPW Trades Group builders and painters handled the rest. They built a new wall in the kitchen, put in a barn-style door between the lounge and kitchen, and fitted draught seals to the French doors.

Managh Electrical supplied and installed a new Westinghouse stove for this customer, and we removed and disposed of the old unit so there was nothing left for them to deal with.

When we pulled the old stove out, we found the existing cable was in poor condition. We replaced it with a new plug and lead, so the new appliance is now running on a safe, reliable connection.

It's a good reminder: if your appliance is old, the wiring behind it may be too. We're happy to help you upgrade your appliances and take the old ones away, and we'll always check the connection is up to standard while we're there.
