This isn’t just a building wrap.
One of the reasons Chris likes using EcoPly Ridged Air Barrier is that it’s doing more than simply providing a weatherproof layer behind the cladding.
On this recladding project, the EcoPly Barrier is also contributing to the bracing of the wall, creating large bracing panels between the joinery units.
It’s also an H3.2 exterior-grade material, which makes it a durable option where moisture and condensation need to be considered.
And then there’s the bigger picture.
E2 refers to Clause E2 of the New Zealand Building Code, which deals with external moisture and the weathertightness of buildings.
The rigid air barrier, cavity system, cladding, flashings and sealants all work together as part of the building envelope to manage external moisture and protect the building.
It’s the stuff you won’t see once the job is finished, but it matters.
In this video, Chris talks through why he likes using EcoPly Ridged Air Barrier and how it fits into the wider wall and weatherproofing system on this recladding project.
We’ll show you more as this project progresses.
