Meet Scott.

Scott brings a careful, considered approach to every project, guiding design from early concept through to the details that define how a space is experienced. His work is shaped by a genuine curiosity about people, place, and the way architecture can quietly improve everyday life.

Alterations and additions to an existing commercial building in central Taupō, designed to give it a stronger street presence while better supporting the way people work today.

A new semi-transparent polycarbonate façade adds a distinctive layer to the building's exterior, providing passive solar control while drawing on the reflections and shimmer of nearby Lake Taupō. It's a quiet nod to the surrounding environment, connecting the building to its city context in a way that feels considered rather than decorative.

Building consent has been lodged, with construction set to begin later this year. Looking forward to watching this one come to life.

The boundary between inside and out is one of the most considered decisions in any home. When it dissolves well, you stop noticing it entirely, light moves freely, spaces breathe, and the landscape becomes part of how you live.

These are the details we return to, project after project. Not as a style choice, but as a question of how a home should feel from within.

Macdonald House, a new two-storey home designed for a newly subdivided urban site in a coastal setting.

Careful planning has shaped every decision here, balancing the client's budget, district plan requirements, and the opportunity that comes with a fresh site. The design takes a modernist coastal approach, a neutral palette paired with natural materials, creating a quiet, considered connection to its surroundings without announcing itself.

Sustainability has been woven throughout from the start: lower-embodied-carbon materials, solar gain studies to balance warmth and shading, and integrated solar panels.

Resource consent for the subdivision has been accepted, detailed design is now underway, and construction is expected to begin before the end of the year. Exciting to see this one moving forward.

Every project begins with a question: what does this place ask of us?

Context shapes everything, the land, the light, the way people will move through a space. Before we reach for form, we listen. To the site, to the climate, to the lives that will unfold within these walls.

The result is never a house imposed on its surroundings. It's a space that belongs there.

This is what we mean by thoughtful design, not a style, but a process.

The Cedar Box is a contemporary office addition designed to float above the ground floor of an existing redeveloped building. Conceived as a pure, restrained form, wrapped entirely in cedar, expressing warmth, texture, and material honesty.

Its elevated position creates a clear visual separation between old and new, allowing the intervention to read as a lightweight object gently placed within the urban fabric. Defined by simplicity and clarity of form, The Cedar Box demonstrates how thoughtful design and minimal material expression can transform an existing structure into a refined workplace.

It's not about trends.

Thoughtful architecture looks beyond the present moment, focusing on places that continue to feel relevant long after trends have passed.

The name VOID has always represented more than a name.

It speaks to possibility, to the spaces between, and to the role architecture plays in shaping how we live, connect and experience our surroundings.

A philosophy that continues to guide our work today.

Every project follows its own path.

Our role is to provide guidance, clarity and confidence at each stage, helping clients navigate the process with greater ease and understanding.

Good architecture is not only about the outcome, but the experience of getting there.
