Ever driven through road works and wondered why the speed limit has suddenly dropped?

It’s because the road environment has changed.

Road works can introduce workers, machinery, narrowed lanes, changes to the road surface, restricted visibility and other hazards that aren’t normally there.

A temporary speed limit is one part of the traffic management setup that helps give everyone more time to react and helps keep workers and road users safe.

So when you see a temporary speed limit, slow down, stay alert and follow the signs.

🚴‍♂️ Weetbix Kids TRYathlon – Road closures & bus detour 🏊‍♂️🏃

The Weetbix Kids TRYathlon is happening this weekend, Sunday 8 March, in Tāhunanui between 6am and 1.30pm. Expect hundreds of tamariki running, cycling, and swimming around the area, which means road closures and a bus detour will be in place.

On the day of the event:
🚌 Bus Detour – eBus Route 4 will detour down Muritai Street, with bus stops on Golf Road closed for the day.
🚗 Road Closures – The following streets will be closed to ordinary traffic from 6am -1:30pm on Sunday:
🚧 Tāhunanui Recreation Reserve
🚧 Beach Road (between no.45 and the intersection with Golf Road)
🚧 Golf Road
🚧 Hounsell Circle
🚧Waikare Street (at the intersection with Beach Road)
🚧 Bisley Walk
🚧 Centennial Road (at the intersection with Golf Road )
🚧 Green Street (at the intersection with Golf Road)

Please drive with extra care—there will be lots of families and tamariki around.
