π§πͺ΅ WEβRE HIRING β LANDSCAPE BUILDER / FENCING CONTRACTOR πͺ΅π§
Kiwi Excavations is on the hunt for someone solid to join the crew building fencing, retaining walls, and landscaping projects throughout the Nelson/Tasman region.
The majority of our work is timber fencing, along with retaining walls and landscaping projects completed to a high standard. We take pride in our work, and weβre looking for someone who does too.
π¨ Ideally youβll have:
β Previous experience building fences and retaining walls
β A strong work ethic
β A good sense of humour
β The ability to think ahead and plan your day
β The common sense to charge your tool batteries at night
A qualified builder would suit this role well, however someone with strong hands-on experience and practical skills would also fit in nicely.
π WHAT THE JOB IS REALLY LIKE:
β
No two days are the same
β
Youβll be all over the district, not stuck on one site for months
β
Plenty of variety
β
Physical work that keeps you fit
β
Good crew environment
β
Opportunity to grow your skill set throughout the landscaping industry
This role requires forward thinking and preparation. Turning up organised, with the right gear for the day, is expected.
Youβll also need to be adaptable and communicative. Customers can sometimes change their minds or alter the scope of work along the way, so being able to communicate clearly and ensure everyone stays on the same page is important.
Youβll generally be required to pick up materials for your jobs and deliver them to site, while working alongside the team to keep projects moving efficiently.
We provide all the tools needed but if youβve got your own quality gear, thatβs a bonus too.
π« THIS JOB PROBABLY ISNβT FOR YOU IF:
β Youβre rough in your workmanship
β Youβre rough on the gear
β You struggle getting to work on time
β You like taking extended smoko breaks
β You prefer standing around talking instead of working
β You donβt work well in a team environment
β Hard physical work scares you
β Youβre about to lose your driverβs licence
β You forget your tools regularly
β You forget to charge your batteries at night
β Your toolbox mainly consists of Ryobi products or similar quality
β Youβre easily offended when someone tells you the post holes are crooked
β You bring outside drama to work every day β we build fences, not relationship counselling sessions
β You turn up to work high and think nobody notices
β You lack accountability and always have an excuse ready to go
β You carry a negative attitude everywhere you go
β You canβt take constructive criticism without throwing your toys out of the cot
β You need to be spoon-fed instructions all day and lack initiative
β You lack work ethic and expect everyone else to carry you
β Youβre a professional victim and nothing is ever your fault
β Youβre a βthatβs not my jobβ specialist but still expect pay rises and growth every second week
β If youβve seen it once on YouTube and suddenly think youβre experienced
β If youβre the type who always seems to have a reason to knock off early, disappear before pack-up, or pull the old, Iβve gotta duck off early,β
β If youβre the type to work unsafely around machinery, think blind spots are optional, or treat excavators like bumper cars.
β If youβre the type to annoy the digger driver all day, stand in blind spots, or try guide machinery with interpretive dance signals.
β If your alarm clock βmysteriously didnβt go offβ three times a week, or youβre constantly setting land speed records trying to get to site by 8:30am, this job probably isnβt for you
